Hardwood will become one of the items that you will require when you advance past the initial levels of Windrose. This item isn’t found in your original starting area, which means you will need to go into a different type of biome to find it. But you won’t have a hard time doing so since the game directs you to this point naturally. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to get hardwood and what you can use it for.

How to Get Hardwood

In order to collect the hardwood, you should visit the Foothills biome. To unlock the biome, you will need to defeat Thomas Richards, the game’s first boss. Next, go around the biome and search for any forests consisting of different types of trees known as “Divi trees”. These trees differ visually from the trees you’ve already harvested before. All you need to do is cut them down just like normal trees. When you do, they will drop Hardwood along with Tree Bark, making them a great resource spot.

As an alternative to collect hardwood through harvesting trees, you can try buying it from a merchant, which is another fast way of getting the necessary resource. In case you want to buy the hardwood, visit Merchant: Natural Resources, where you will be able to acquire the material in bundles. There will be 50 pieces of Hardwood in the package, which costs 50 Piastre.

How to Use Hardwood

The Hardwood is an important material you will be able to use when you reach the mid-game stage of Windrose. This material can be used to craft advanced weapons and ships as well as other items. On top of that, collecting hardwood also triggers a discovery that unlocks new crafting options related to ships, fishing, and seafood-based dishes.

Once you complete the discovery for Hardwood, you will get access to several recipes and items such as the Master Combat Repair Kit and Simple Fishing Rod. You will also unlock the recipes for crafting materials such as Timber and Charcoal. Moreover, you will be able to craft several seafood dishes like the Seafood Platter, Chowder, and Seafood Skewer.
