In Gothic 1 Remake it is essential to locate both maps and a safe place to sleep as early in the game as possible. When exploring the Old Camp there are maps which will help you navigate more easily around the Colony and there is also a rare free bed. Below are the exact locations of both along with instructions on how to access them.
How to Get Maps in Gothic 1 Remake
Proceed to Old Camp’s entry and go inside. Immediately turn right and look for the house adjacent to the cauldron. Graham, the map maker can be found located here.
Talk to Graham, he will provide a map of the Old Camp and a map of the Colony. The price for the Old Camp map is 38 ore nuggets and the price for the Colony map is 29 ore nuggets.
If you want to save some ore nuggets, you can purchase the Colony map from Dexter instead of Graham, as Dexter sells it for a lesser price (24 ore nuggets). Dexter can be found in the market area.
Note: Graham does not always remain in his house; he moves around the Camp, meaning that you may have to search throughout the Old Camp if you’re unable to find him inside the house.
Where to Find a Free Bed in Gothic 1 Remake
You won’t find many unclaimed beds in the Old Camp as nearly all of them are marked red. Sleeping in one of those beds will lead to negative consequences. That said, there is one bed that is an exception.
Go to the left after you enter the Old Camp and keep going straight until you reach the arena. There will be one house in front of the arena with a red tent and some animal skins in front of it.
You can use one of the free beds inside of this house or one of the free chests when you start your journey. You can return to this location to rest whenever you want during the early portion of your journey in the game.
