Roblox is a great platform; it allows you to create games and play games created by other players. However, recently the occurrence of the Roblox error code 524 has kept players away from the platform. This error code appears with two separate sets of messages – both statements mean there is an authorization issue.
As I investigated the problem, the other possible cause of the error can be the Roblox servers experiencing downtime or are slow and bandwidth or network problem from your end. Not to worry though, we have the right fixes for the problem.
These solutions have helped resolve the error code 524 in Roblox for most users as reported by them on various forums.
Fix 1: Check your Internet Connection and Shift to a
Wired Connection
If the internet connection unexpectedly disconnects even for a few seconds it can hinder the packets download process, which can cause the 524 error to arise. Using Wi-Fi to play games is the most common cause of this problem. Shift to a wired connection to reduce this problem and avoid any future problems.
Check that the bandwidth speed is optimum. Additionally, terminate any bandwidth-intensive tasks such as torrenting, file transfer, video streaming, etc. which could be slowing down the internet causing the error.
While playing the game ensure that no other devices are using the same connection and playing Roblox.
Fix 2: Restart the Computer, Game, and Try again
Often times, this problem has been fixed by a simple restart of the computer, game, and trying again. Sometimes the Roblox server might be undergoing maintenance or excessive traffic making the server slow which can result in the Roblox error code 524. If the problem is from the server end, there is little you can do to help the situation, but wait. Try reconnecting the game and wait for the storm to pass. More Advanced Fixes for the Roblox Error Code 524
If the general solutions have not fixed the error and you are sure that the Roblox servers are operating as desired. The possible cause can be an authorization issue that’s preventing you from connecting to the game.
This error occurs when you try to join a VIP server – either normally or as a Guest. When you try to join the server, the error message occurs because the author of the game has made its VIP, meaning only people approved by the creator can join the game.
Don’t worry! This does not mean you cannot join the game. There is a way around it, which I will explain.
Fix 3: Request a VIP Server Member to Send an Invite
This solution will definitely solve your problem. If you have a friend or know someone who has the VIP access to the server, you can request them to send an invite or request the creator to send you an invite. Follow the below steps to fix the problem.
- Open the game and go to Roblox setting, navigate and select Privacy settings.
- Locate the tab that reads “Who can invite me to a VIP server”. Change the settings from Friends to Everyone. Click Ok and apply changes.
- Now you have to find players who are members of the VIP server (the game you want to play). Search for the username and send them an invite.
- When the invitation is accepted, click Join the Game and you can play the game without the 524 error code.
A good trick to find the usernames of people with VIP server access is watching YouTube video streams and getting the name from there.
Fix 4: Uninstall and Reinstall the Game
If for some reason the above solution did not work for you, try uninstalling and reinstalling the game to fix the Roblox authorization error 524. Here are the steps to reinstall the game.
- Using the Windows search box, search for Control Panel.
- From the Control panel select Uninstall a program
- Locate Roblox and right-click and select uninstall.
- Once uninstall is complete, restart the computer and go to the official website of Roblox to download a fresh copy of the game.
- Find the game and login.
- Click Join and download the application.
This should have fixed the error, now you can play the game again.
