The Spiral Abyss stands as a pinnacle of endgame content in Genshin Impact, challenging players with its relentless difficulty, dynamic gameplay, and rich rewards. It serves as a proving ground for those seeking to test their limits and refine their skills, offering an exhilarating and highly rewarding experience. By conquering the Abyss, players attain not only valuable resources but also a sense of accomplishment and prestige within the game’s community.
The first phase Abyss cycle of Version 3.7 is said to be one of the hardest if not the hardest cycle of the game to date. In this article, we will give you some tips to clear it.
Version 3.7 First Phase Spiral Abyss Floors 11 & 12
Floors 11 & 12 of this cycle’s Spiral Abyss are special because it’s one of the few Abyss cycles that almost cannot be cleared with 4-star characters and gear. And even with 5-star options, this is a difficult challenge for even hardcore veterans of the game. A F2P casual player isn’t even expected to touch Floor 12, let alone clear Floor 11 with full 9-stars. But that doesn’t mean we can’t try. In this guide, we’ll give you some tips to effectively challenge this latest Spiral Abyss.
The Abyssal Blessing this cycle also allows NA-users to deal True DMG to opponents by marking them with a sigil which after its duration deals True DMG to marked opponents. This damage can be increased by repeatedly hitting these marked enemies with more Normal Attacks. The sigil can stack up to 9 times which eventually builds up and deals a lot of True DMG.
Floor 11
Floor 11 increases Normal Attack DMG by 50%. In general, this will benefit NA-based DPS team comps. Units like Ayato, Yoimiya, Childe and Alhaitham will be greatly favoured. You can also use NA Hu Tao and Ayaka if push comes to shove.
First Half
As is usual for the first halves, an Anemo CC (Crowd Control) really helps but other than that a Dendro, Cryo or Pyro DPS is highly recommended due to the Electro Abyss Lector in Chamber 2. Pyro is the most recommended of the 3 elements as Pyro can also help you in Chamber 1 with the Cryo Lawachurl.
Units like Xiangling, Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Yanfei and Bennett will come in handy. You can also bring in a Bow unit to deal with the flying Ruin Drake. As for survivability, there are plenty of options. You can use Diona, Layla, Qiqi, Bennett, Thoma, Yaoyao, Kirara, Baizhu or Zhongli for survivability.
Chamber 1 is Defend the Leyline so there’s no time limit and you can take your sweet time. This is where the Anemo CC comes in most handy against all the Specters. Take out the heavy hitters first though since they will beeline for the Leyline and deal tons of damage. Chamber 2 is just the Electro Abyss Lector. As long as you know his attack patterns and have the patience to efficiently whittle down his shield you’ll be fine. In Chamber 3 the Mirror Maidens can get annoying so you can stagger them with your Anemo CC unit and deal with them efficiently.
Second Half
For the second team, you’ll need a Dendro or Cryo unit. The ideal team comps for the second half are thus Freeze and Fridge comps but you can also manage with a Bloom comp. This is mainly because of Chamber 3 which will spawn 2 Hydro Abyss Heralds. If that wasn’t enough, Cryo, Hydro and Pyro Abyss Mages will also spawn in the second half of Chamber 3.
Their shields are best broken by a Bloom comp but having a Cryo unit also helps Freeze them in place- thus reducing their overall threat and movement. For survivability, you can bring in units like Diona, Layla, Qiqi, Kokomi, Barbara, Yaoyao, Kirara, Baizhu or Zhongli. There’s really no shortage of options here.
Chamber 1 will spawn the newly introduced Hilichurl Rogues from Version 3.6 and you should deal with their Slimes first to weaken them and limit their range. The Eremite Summoner is easily dealt with. In Chamber 2, go for the flying Shrooms first as they can fly out of range of your melee units. As for the Eremites, deal with the Summoner first and go for her pet first to weaken her. The rest is business as usual.
Chamber 3 is the most annoying of all on the entire floor. Deal with the Abyss Mages by repositioning and grouping them close together. Cryo works against two of the Abyss shields and the Dendro application can deal with the rest as Bloom Core explosions will affect all shields and especially the Hydro one. As for the 2 Hydro Abyss Heralds, just Freeze them and use your Dendro rotation to whittle them down with your Bloom explosions. Once their shields are up, just use Cryo and Dendro to shred them patiently.
Floor 12
This Floor is meant to test your pure skill, knowledge and investment in the game and its characters since the Ley Lines on this floor are normal. The reason why this is the most difficult content in the game is because all the enemies here are far above the level of your characters with some enemies even touching Lv 100.
First Half
Since the first half comes with hoards of enemy mobs, it’s best to keep an Anemo CC unit on the team. Kazuha is recommended for not only his ability to pull surrounding enemies closer to your character but also for buffing the overall damage of your team. Other than the CC unit, an Aggravate team is recommended due to the enemies you will be facing.
The Mechanical Doritos in Chamber 1 and the Jadeplume Terrorshroom in Chamber 2 are weak to Electro so an Aggravate team works perfectly against them. You’ll also need at least two units for survivability because of the Consecrated Beasts on Chamber 3. Units like Yaoyao and Kuki Shinobu will come in clutch. You can also use a shielder like Zhongli or Kirara.
There’s not much strategy involved for the first half. Just use your CC unit on Chamber 1 to group up the Primal Constructs and Whopperflowers and then do your usual Aggravate rotation. Rinse and repeat. You’ll also need to use your Anemo CC unit to shred the RES of the Dendro Chicken in Chamber 2. For Chamber 3 you can again use your CC unit to group up and shred RES of the Consecrated Beasts as much as possible.
Second Half
For the second half, an ideal overall team comp to use would be the Burgeon comp with Thoma, Nahida and a NA Hydro applier like Xingqiu or Yelan. As for the 4th slot, you can choose to bring a shielder like Kirara or Zhongli or a healer like Yaoyao, Baizhu, Kokomi or Barbara. Burgeon comps are very effective against the enemies you’ll face on this floor since most of them will carry Hydro and Cryo shields.
In Chamber 1 you’ll be facing Cryo and Hydro Abyss Mages and Abyss Heralds. Deal with the Hydro ones first and the Cryo ones will automatically follow you to your location. In Chamber 2, the Thunder Manifestation can be reliably defeated by a Burgeon comp if you have good luck, else you have to try again. Chamber 3 has the Iniquitous Baptist and unlike the overworld boss, this one doesn’t spawn elemental crystals at the start of the fight. His shields can still be easily broken with a Burgeon comp since he will only be using Hydro, Cryo and Pyro elements. A Burgeon comp is in fact the most effective against this boss in this cycle.
Conquering the Spiral Abyss holds great prestige within the Genshin Impact community. It signifies mastery of gameplay mechanics, strategic planning, and the ability to overcome insurmountable odds.
