Phasmophobia is a ghost-investigation game where finding the ghost type is the main objective while doing a few side quests. Though finding ghost-type doesn’t require smudge sticks, players need them to complete objectives and also to prevent ghost-hunting for a few seconds. However, if you are a new player and don’t know how Smudge Stick works in Phasmophobia, this guide will help you with it.
Phasmophobia Smudge Stick Guide- How to Use It?
In Phasmophobia, there are several things players need to do while surviving the ghost hunts. While identifying Ghost-type requires players to check Fingerprints, EMF Level, Spirit Box, Ghost Orb, etc., surviving hunts sometimes require Smudge Sticks. Smudge Sticks are purchasable items in the game that will stop the ghost hunt if you smudge the spawn area of the ghost. This almost works for every ghost, of course, with some exceptions. Using Smudge Stick prevents hunting for 90 seconds maximum. If you use it on Yurei or Spirit, the ghosts won’t hunt for 90 seconds.
Additionally, this equipment is helpful when the ghost is chasing you. When the ghost is chasing you, or your friend and the hiding spot is not close, you can light the smudge stick to stop the hunt temporarily so you can get some time to reach the hiding place. It can’t stop the hunt entirely or not even work on all the ghosts, especially ghosts that are fast, like Revenant.
Players need to have a Lighter to light Smudge Sticks; in each game, you can have 4 Smudge Sticks max. The ghost must be 6 meters away from the player when you smudge it, and the Smudge Stick burns for 6 seconds approx. Sometimes, you can get a quest that requires you to smudge the ghost room or prevent hunt while the ghost is chasing someone. Completing the task will prevent a ghost hunt and gives you money. However, you must have purchased both items (Smudge Sticks and Lighter) beforehand because, once you are in the van, you can no longer purchase items.
That’s all you need to know about how to use Smudge Sticks in Phasmophobia. Even if there’s no quest, you can still use them to protect yourself from the ghost.
