According to leakers, Genshin Impact’s Sumeru Update in 3.0 will introduce massive changes to many weapon and artifact descriptions. Most of these will be updates to Electro and Pyro artifacts which need to be updated for Dendro reactions.
Changes to Weapon Descriptions in Update 3.0
A few weapon descriptions of low rarity weapons are expected to change with the beginning of Sumeru. These changes all have something to do with the Dendro reactions which are also coming for the first time in Sumeru.
Dark Iron Sword (3-star)
This is the only 3-star weapon in Genshin Impact that cannot be refined. There is only one unit of this in the game and it can be obtained from Chen the Sharp in Liyue. It’s a neat Elemental Mastery weapon that can give a maximum of 141 EM at level 90. Its passive could buff attack by 20% for 12s every time an Electro elemental reaction was triggered- aka Overloaded, Superconduct, and Electro-charged.
In 3.0, leakers say its description will be changed to also include Electro reactions with Dendro such as Quicken, Aggravate, and Hyperbloom. Additionally, even an Electro-infused Swirl will be counted as an electro reaction to give the 20% attack buff. Players thus expect to get more of its copies in Sumeru.
Emerald Orb (3-Star)
Another 3-star catalyst EM based weapon- this one gave a 20% attack buff when any Hydro elemental reaction was triggered. In 3.0 its description will change to also include the Bloom reaction which happens when Hydro reacts with Dendro.
Quartz (2-Star)
This 2-star claymore was never released- nonetheless its description is also changing to include all Pyro reactions in the game.
Changes to Artifact Descriptions
Both Pyro and Electro have two dedicated artifact sets, while the rest have only one. In Sumeru 3.0, artifact descriptions of Crimson Witch of Flames and Thundering Fury are also expected to change to include Dendro reactions.
Crimson Witch of Flames
The Crimson Witch of Flames, which is based on La Signora, is an artifact set that buffs its users with 15% Pyro damage bonus on its 2pc set. On its 4pc set, it increases Overloaded and Burning damage by 40% and Vaporise and Melt damage by 15%. Using an Elemental Skill also increases its 4pc bonuses by 50% of its starting values for the next 10s. This effect can also be stacked a maximum of three times.
In 3.0, in addition to Overloaded and Burning, we’re also getting a Burgeon damage increase by 40%. Changes like these will keep our already built Pyro units viable in Sumeru.
Thundering Fury
This artifact gives a character 15% Electro damage bonus on its 2pc set. On its 4pc set it gives a 40% damage boost to Overloaded, Electro-charged and Superconduct and triggering these reactions also reduces elemental skill cooldown by 1 second every 0.8 seconds.
In 3.0, in addition to the above three reactions, even Hyperbloom will get the 40% damage boost. Additionally, the Aggravate reaction will get a 20% damage boost. Finally, triggering Quicken or any of the above reactions will reduce elemental skill cooldown by 1 second every 0.8 seconds.
These changes hint at some major changes in the meta and we’ll have to wait and see where Dendro fits into the current elemental equation of Genshin Impact. As a game where elemental reactions is one of its core mechanics, we can expect Dendro to finally balance the differences and imbalances between the various elements.
