Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt, a supernatural free-to-play battle royale game, is finally out. The game has been developed in Unreal Engine 4, and thus the game has a fair share of UE4 based crashes just like any other Unreal Engine game like Fortnite, PUBG, etc. The UE4 Tiger Crash bug has been noticed by several gamers, and thus we will show how to fix this issue in this article.
How to Stop Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt Crashes?
There are a lot of potential fixes to the issue, and any of these can work for you. These fixes range from a very simple restart to limiting framerates because the crash is mostly caused due to improper communication between hardware and software. Let us get into the fixes.
1. Restart the Game
Restarting is a universal fix. It works with any kind of error, so do not forget to give it a quick shot. It might solve your issue, but it might come back in the future when you relaunch the game. Check out the following steps to put an end to these crashes.
2. Revert Overclocking Settings
Overclocked chips are not stable, and improper settings can push the game to an extremely unstable state. This may end up in crashes. So, revert your overclocking settings from either the BIOS, the AMD Ryzen Master utility, or the MSI Afterburner OC utility if you have an OCed graphics card.
3. Turn Rivatuner and MSI Afterburner Off
MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner Statistics Server (RTSS) can cause a lot of issues too. This problem is not just with Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt, it happens in a bunch of games. The easiest way to fix this problem is to turn this software off from running in the background. Follow these steps:
- Hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc at the same time. The Task Manager will pop up.
- Locate RivaTunerStatistics from “Background Tasks“. It should have three tasks named RTSS (32 bit), RTSS Encoder Server (32 bit), and RTSS Hooks Loader.
- End all of these tasks.
- Locate MSI Afterburner.
- End the task.
Launch the game now. You should not be facing crashes.
4. Limit Framerate to 60fps
High framerates are great, but extremely high numbers can cause the game to crash. The menu and loading screen of a game are not difficult to render. Thus, they can be rendered thousands of times a second by any modern graphics card. This might be an issue.
In this case, try limiting the framerate to 60fps, as the most common refresh rate of monitors today is 60Hz. If the game crashes even before you get to the settings, go to the following path: C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\ Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt. Then open the config.ini file up using Notepad, and change settings that you think might cause an issue. We suggest lowering the graphics settings and setting an FPS cap of 60.
5. Run the Game on DirectX 11
DirectX 12 is known to cause a lot of issues with games. Fortnite is a big example. DirectX 12 causes the game to crash frequently. So, you can force your game to run using the DirectX 11 API. Head over to the config.ini file from the following location: C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\ Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt. Now, change the rendering API to DirectX 11.
6. Update Graphics Card Drivers
Outdated graphics card drivers also cause a lot of issues with games. Follow the following links to download the latest drivers from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel.
Nvidia: https://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx
AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support
Intel: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download-center/home.html
Alternatively, you can also opt for downloading the drivers using the Nvidia GeForce experience or AMD Radeon Adrenaline software.
These fixes should stop Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt from crashing. In case of any doubts, leave a link below and get the conversation started!
