To fix the text error in TW3, you will have to first check if your language is supported by the game. If it is not on the list of supported languages, you will have to manually select the language that is easiest for you to understand, then swap to that in-game and apply settings. If your preferred language is present in the game but you are not being able to get the text for it, you can manually add it in the game script. Go to the local drive where TW3 is located, and type this in the address bar: %AppData%\Roaming\TheCreativeAssembly\Warhammer3\GDK\scripts\preferences.script.txt. Open the txt file in Notepad and change the script for language text “” and input language text “en” or any language from the list of supported languages. Save the file then launch TW3.
You will also have to change the Windows default language to offer full support to the game. Type in Language Settings in your Windows search bar, select it, and then change the language to any of the supported languages. Click apply, then go to your in-game settings and change the language settings there as well. Apply all settings and restart the PC, then try playing TW3 again.
Some players have also noticed that simply changing the language settings in-game seems to help. Go to your in-game language settings, change the default language to any other language, then click apply. Restart the game, then go back in and change the language to your preferred one.
If you are still missing your in-game text, then you will have to do a clean boot of the game and remove all mods, then reinstall the game. To go about this, uninstall TW3 through your client library, then go to your local folder and manually delete the TW3 folder. Go to Run Command and type in %appdata% and press enter. Click on the Creative Assembly folder and find the TW3 folder in it. If you wish to keep the game save files, then only transfer that file to a different file location, then delete the TW3 folder completely. Restart the PC and do a fresh install of the game. Transfer the save files back to the correct folder and you can now run your game with text.
These are just some ways to help get the in-game text back in Total War: Warhammer 3. Creative Assembly is aware of the ongoing issue with text not showing up in the game, so hopefully, there will be a patch update to fix the issue. If you liked this guide you can check out our other guides as well.
