Lost Ark is shaping up to be one of the biggest MMORPGs of the year. While Lost Ark is not a new game, the earlier release of the game back in 2018 was only offered to South Korean players. We are still away from a global release, but the game is now available in most parts of North America and some other regions. One of the issues you may face with the game when you first boot up or later during the course of play is the Lost Ark cashing problem and won’t launch issues. Games crash at startup for very specific reasons, which we will try to address in this post. But, the sheer number of variables that can cause the issue makes it difficult to suggest one fix. Here is what you need to do to fix the crashing problem on PC in Lost Ark.
Lost Ark Crashing at Startup, Mid-Game Crash, and Won’t Launch Issues Fix
Crashing problems are one of the most difficult issues to troubleshoot. They can occur when you system is too old or below the required config to play the game. They are also caused by third-party applications, features of some applications, outdated or corrupted system files, and much more. We will cover the most probable cause for the Lost Ark crash.
Fix Lost Ark Crashing for AMD Processors/Update the BIOS
A lot of players with AMD processors have been complaining of the game crashing on their system. While we do not why this is specifically for AMD users, an outdated BIOS software may be the underlying cause of the crash. So, regardless of whether you are an AMD user or not, if the game is crashing for you, the first thing you should do is update the BIOS. But, first you should check you current version. Here are the steps you can follow.
- In the Windows Search, type msinfo and open System Information (Here you will be able to check the BIOS Version/Date)
- Once you know the current version, go to the motherboard’s manufacturer website and download if there is a newer version available.
- Now, boot the PC and enter UEFI BIOS by pressing the prompt when you boot. It can vary from one motherboard to the other.
- If you motherboard allows you to connect to the internet and update the software directly from the UEFI BIOS control panel, the process will be greatly simplified. If you don’t have that then follow the rest of the steps.
- Unzip the BIOS update you downloaded and copy it to a USB flash drive.
- In the UEFI control panel, initiate the update using the firmware update wizard and choose the image file on the USB flash drive.
- Once the process is complete reboot the system.
The process may be lengthy, but you should be doing this after a fixed period of time anyways, so do it for the excuse to fix Lost Ark crashing.
Perform a Clean Boot to Fix Lost Ark Crashing
Another important fix that you should try if the above solution failed is to launch the game after a clean boot. A clean boot takes care of multiple possible causes for the crash at a time. It can sometimes even resolve the Lost Ark stuttering fps drop issues. It will start the PC without any third-party application and also free space for the game. Here is how to replicate the fix.
- Press Windows Key + R and type msconfig, hit Enter
- Go to the Services tab
- Check Hide all Microsoft services (very imp step)
- Now, click Disable all
- Go to the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager
- Disable one task at a time and restart the system.
Now, try to launch the game and check if the crashing or won’t launch problems are still there. If yes, then follow the rest of the solutions.
Update the GPU and Stop Overclocking
Outdated GPU driver is one of the main reasons behind crashes, but in this case, that may not be the issue for most users, but as a step in troubleshooting ensure that the GPU driver is updated. When updating perform a clean install and get the driver from the official website don’t rely on Device Manager Search. If you are overclocking in the GPU or CPU, suspend that as well.
Repair Easy Anti-Cheat
A problem with the Easy Anti-cheat will also crash Lost Ark at startup. The process to repair the Easy Anti-cheat is quite straightforward. Go to the install folder of the game. You can follow this path – open Steam Library > right-click on Lost Ark > Properties > Local Files > Browse.
Once you are there, open the Easy Anti-Cheat folder and launch the EasyAntiCheat_Setup wizard, you will get the option to repair.
Switch Out and Into Your Game
If you get a black screen after launching Lost Ark, press alt+tab to get out of the window, then alt+tab back in again. Usually, this will repair the black screen issue.
Verify Game Files From Game Launcher
On Lost Ark’s game client, click on the arrow next to the play button that says Fix and Verify Installed Game File. It will do a patch repair of any file that is causing the crash.
Re-Download Translation Program
If your translation application is causing the problem, you will have to delete the file and re-download it again. After installing the patch, do not tick-mark the option to keep a reverse translation after shutdown.
