Lost Ark Server Authentication Failed 10010 Error Fix

While the Lost Ark Forum is filled with threads that talk about the error, there are few where the support helped users troubleshoot the problem. Here are the things the support recommends to fix Lost Ark error code 10010 – ‘Server authentication failed.’

Update 1 May 2022 – Don’t Use VPN

While we cannot confirm this with absolute certainty. there have been a lot of reports of error 10010 when using a VPN and specifically Exitlag. If you have this same problem and get the error when the VPN is enabled. You can fix this by getting a dedicated IP VPN. When several users have the same IP, which can happen with a VPN, it indicates the game of foul play and the connection may be terminated resulting in the error. A dedicated IP VPN should theoretically allow you to play the game.

Also, if you are using a VPN that lags, which can happen with a lot of VPNs in the market, you could get this error.

Verify Integrity of Gamer Files

To verify integrity of game files, launch the Steam client > Library > right-click on Lost Ark > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files…

After you have gone through the above process wait for Steam to complete the process of verification and downloading missing or corrupt files.

Disable Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)

Quite a number of game have issue with IPv6. If my memory serves me right, the recent Diablo has a similar issue. Here is how to disable IPv6.

  1. In the Windows Search, type ncpa.cpl and open it
  2. Right-click on your current network and go to Properties
  3. Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
  4. Click Ok to save the changes

Refresh Credentials

This is another solution that’s recommended on the Lost Ark forum and you should try it. Here are the steps to replicate the fix.

  1. In the Windows Search, type cmd and choose Run as administrator
  2. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
  3. Type ipconfig /registerdns and press Enter.
  4. Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
  5. Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.
  6. Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
  7. Reboot the PC

Note: Between each command wait for a while, so the command is processed. Also, while the above solution was suggest by the support, it does not work for a large number of players. So, you can try the below solutions first then try the above.

Try to Play the Game over Mobile Internet

This solution works for authentication and server issues for a lot of games, it’s because your current ISP has issues connecting to the server. If you have the option to switch ISP that may also work. If not try using the mobile internet to connect to the game servers. Once you have successfully entered the game, you can switch back to your Ethernet or Wi-Fi ad it should work.

Fix for Windows 7 Users

For Windows 7 users, the problem may be due to TLS protocols <1.2. You need to force .NET to use operating system TLS settings to request negotiation. To do it, download the nisudf.reg file from the link and run it. Say yes to any prompts. Do note that while this fix may resolve the Lost Ark Server Authentication Failed 10010 Error, it may impact your internet connection or other programs. If you wish to revert the change, you will have to go to Registry and delete the files in the entry.

Switch VPN Server

Games that are region locked often have a large number of players accessing the game using a VPN service. If you are playing Lost Ark using a VPN, you are even more prone to the 10010 error. There is no clearly deifned casue for the error as it occurs due to a variety of reasons for different users. If you are using a VPN and you have run into the error, the fix may be as simple as changing the server region. if a lot of users are accessing the game from a specific server, the game server may flag that and lead to the error. Choose a server that’s less likely to be used by others to play the game and the error should not occur.

Create a New Steam Account or Use Alternate Steam Account

If none of the above solutions have helped, a sure fix for the issue at least temporarily is to try to play the game using another Steam account that has not been a part of the beta or has the game installed. You can use an alternate account if you have it already or make a new Steam account and you should be able to play the game. We tried this fix ourselves and it works so far.

Try Using a VPN

It seems that you cannot use just any VPN, some users have reported that using ProtonVPN or ExpressVPN helped them bypass the error and get a game. Both of these VPNs have a free plan so you don’t need to worry about spending money. I suggest you try them both as one works for a user while not the other.

Set Google DNS Servers

Google DNS is best for gaming and you should have already set it as your default DNS server. If not, here is how to do it and it may fix the Lost Ark error 10010 Server Authentication Failed.

  • Press Windows Key + I to open the Windows Settings
  • Select Network & Internet
  • Click on Change adapter options
  • Select the network and right-click > Properties
  • Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties
  • Toggle Use the following DNS server addresses and fill the Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
  • Click Ok.

Another fix that seems to be working to resolve the error is to unlink the Steam account from Amazon and Twitch and then relink them. Doing so somehow allows you to bypass the Lost Ark Server Authentication Failed 10010 error. You can unlink the Amazon account at this link. You can unlink the Twitch account at this link.

This is all we have to resolve the Lost Ark error 10010 at the moment. We will update the post when we have more.
