LEGO games are incredibly popular and have a massive fan following. LEGO games have constantly delivered hits with the current title also performing better than any title over the past month and this month. The game currently sits at a very positive review on Steam with over 70K peak players. While the game is as smooth as you would expect a LEGO game, not everyone is having a fun time. Two major issues that have been reported are the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga crashing on startup, where the game simply fails to start, and the other issue where players are getting very low frames. We will attempt to help you with the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga crash in this article. Check our other article for the FPS drop issues in the game.
How to Fix LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Crashing on Startup, Game Not Starting, and Crash mid Game
On the Steam client, there are more reported crashes than on any other platform. One of the most reported is the game crashes as soon as it starts when the game says “this icon means your game is saving.” Keep reading and hopefully one of the below solutions help you resolve the problem.
Verify the Game Files
While verifying the integrity of game files should help in any in-game crash, it’s reported to work most when you are crashing in Episode 2 of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. If you don’t know already, here is how to perform the file verification using the Steam client.
- From the Steam client
- Go to Library and right-click on LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, choose Properties
- Go to the Local Files tab and click on Verify integrity of game files…
Lower the Settings
One of the other reasons for the game crashing may be it demands too much from the system in specific scenes, especially if you are on a laptop or running an older GPU. Try playing the game at a lower setting and the crash should not happen at specific scenes.
Run LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga in a Clean Boot Environment to Fix Crashes
Third-party software can be a pain at times, especially while playing games. They will prevent a game from launching. Windows offers a simple yet effective way to disable all third-party applications and launch the game with only the Windows essentials. Later, when the game launches, you can enable one program at a time to identify the one that’s causing the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga crash. Here are the steps you can follow.
- Press Windows Key + R and type msconfig, hit Enter
- Go to the Services tab
- Check Hide all Microsoft services (very imp step)
- Now, click Disable all
- Go to the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager
- Disable one task at a time and restart the system.
Once this is done, try to launch the game and with some luck, you should be able to launch the game.
Set Launch Option on Steam
If your PC is not powerful enough and the game is booting up in Fullscreen that may be the cause of the problem. Input a command in Steam and check if the game launches. You should try this fix if LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is crashing at startup and not starting at all. Here is what you need to do.
Go to Steam Library > Right-click on LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga > Properties > General tab > Set launch Option > Type -windowed -noborder > Ok.
Try Launching the Game from the Executable
We have had this issue with multiple games where the game will simply not launch from the Steam client’s Play button. However, when you browse the local files and try to launch the game from the executable, it launches without any issues. Here is how you can locate the executable and fix LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga crash at startup and other launching problems.
Open the Steam Library > Game > Properties > Local Files > Browse > Locate the executable and launch the game.
Set the Game for Max GPU Performance
If the game is crashing due to the GPU not providing the max power or the game is stuttering, altering the below Windows settings should help resolve the problem. Here are the steps you need to follow to fix the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga crashing.
- Press the Windows Key on your keyboard and type Graphics Settings
- From the new window, click on Browse and select the .exe of the game (you can find the .exe by following this path – Steam Library > LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga > Right-click > Properties > Local Files > Browse > Locate the executable)
- Click on the game logo and click on Options
- Now, select High Performance and Save.
Set your Dedicated GPU as the preferred GPU
For users who have two GPUs or you are on a laptop, these settings alone may fix your crashing problem. But, if you have just one GPU, don’t try this fix as it won’t work, you will not have the option to perform the fix. So, here are the steps.
- Launch the Nvidia Control Panel (if you right-click on Desktop, you will see the option or simply search using the Windows Search)
- Once the control panel has opened, go to Manage 3D Settings
- In the Global Settings, you should see the option Preferred Graphics Processor
- Click on it and select High-Performance NVIDIA Processor
- Click on Apply

Fix LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Crashing on Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox
While there are limited options available for the switch system. Some users have suggested that a complete shutdown of the console allows them to bypass the crashing permanently. So, go ahead and switch off the console, wait for some time and start it again.
It’s also worth noting that the game crashes more often when you are in Episode I. Once you are past that section of the game, the crash should minimize and you should have a smoother experience. So, the above fix did not work, try completing Episode I even after the crash, and the rest of the game experience should be better.
Right now that’s all we can offer for consoles, but we will update the post. The most effective solution can only come from the devs. We will also update the post if we have any info on the upcoming patch.
