After a prolonged paid early access, Icarus has released on Steam and is currently topping the Steam charts. An issue that has transferred from the early access is Icarus stuck at connecting. It can be incredibly frustrating as you wait for the game to load and instead have an infinite loading screen. As such, you must be wondering if you can fix the issue on your end.
Icarus Stuck on Loading Screen, Stuck on Connecting, or Long Load Times
For the most part, the long load times or the infinite loading screen is unfixable as it’s probably caused due to strain on servers or the servers being down. When you face such an issue and repeated attempts to reboot the game do not work, check Icarus server status. Over the past few days, the Icarus servers have gone down a few times already, so it’s likely that the servers are down due to which you cannot load into the game.
If the servers are not the cause, it’s possible that you may see an unusual load time or Icarus stuck at connecting when your system does not meet the requirements to play the game. Or, when you have set the video settings too high. If your system barely meets the requirements to play the game, it’s best you play the game on default settings.
In most cases, the current loading problem with the game is due to a fault on the server end and the devs have acknowledged the issue on a Stream thread.
The devs also shared a temp fix. Here is how to replicate the fix:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run window
- Type cmd and press Ctrl + Shift and hit Enter
- Type netsh winsock reset and hit Enter
- Type netsh int ip reset and hit Enter
- Type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter
- Reboot the PC.
You should wait for the fix from the devs or a few days when the number of users currently on the game drops. Either way, the permanent fix requires some patience, whether it’s a patch or waiting for the servers to stabilize.
