Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was released in 2012 and since then it has gotten a series of updates bringing new weapons and also changing how existing guns work. In this tier list, we talk about the worst weapons to preferably not use during competitive matchmaking.
While this entirely depends on how the player is using the guns, some just have inadequate stats making other choices quite a lot better. We will rank these bad weapons from worst to ‘somewhat okay’ to use, and we hope this guide helps you decide what weapons to avoid in CS:GO.
Worst Weapon Tier List for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – Bad Weapons Ranked
Starting with the worst guns in the game (S-tier), to unuseable guns (A-Tier), somewhat doable guns (B-Tier), and then a special tier that requires specific playstyle (C-Tier). We will not mention the best guns and actually useful ones, but do read our guide on ‘Best Weapon Tier List for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’ to understand the best weapons to use. Guns like the AK47, M4A4/A1-S, AWP, definitely belong in the best weapon categories and will not be mentioned further.
S-Tier (worst guns)
These are the worst weapons to use in the game, because they feel the most uncomfortable to use. This tier includes –
- R8 Revolver – $850
- Dual Berettas – $500
- M249 – $5200
The R8 Revolver requires you to hold down the fire button but in CS:GO you must try to eliminate the enemy as soon as they peek. This requires you to pre-fire which doesn’t really end up being a kill for certain. The Dual Berettas do not have good accuracy and their abysmal damage makes the Tec-9 a superior gun to spam enemies with. Lastly, the M249 is an LMG that takes too long to spin up, feels inaccurate and heavy. It might work in close ranges but is really situational and random to use.
A-Tier (unuseable guns)
These weapons feel unuseable in CS:GO, as they have ridiculous damage fall-offs and other trade-offs making other similarly costing weapons better to use.
- Sawed Off – $1100
- Nova – $1050
Compared to the Sawed Off and Nova shotguns, you might be better off with the cheapest SMG. These guns have huge damage fall-offs that prevent you from being able to kill an enemy unless you’re really up close and personal with them. This is almost impossible in CS:GO as players have to peek angles and aim for heads. In extreme short-range situations these guns might work out. The other shotguns are better, but then again maybe you should just use the SMGs instead.
B-Tier (somewhat doable guns)
These weapons are somewhat doable to use in competitive matchmaking, but you could also look at the C-Tier for the most ‘useable’ bad guns in CS:GO. These guns still have bad damage fall-off.
- UMP-9 – $1200
- MAC-10 – $1050
- PP-Bizon – $1400
- MP9 – $1250
The UMP-9, MAC-10, PP-Bizon and MP9 are all budget SMGs in CS:GO. These guns do not have good range (mostly effective till medium range) but have effective fire-rates that help in quickly disposing off the enemies if you can aim well and control the recoil. The PP-Bizon is the worst offender with the most weird recoil I have seen in the game.
C-Tier (requires special playstyle)
These weapons can be used effectively as long as the player uses a playstyle suitable for the gun. Keep in mind there are slightly better alternatives (will mention them after the weapons list), but you could definitely pull off plays with these guns.
- XM1014 – $2000
- P90 – $2350
- Negev – $1700
- SSG-08 – $1700
- CZ75 Auto – $500
Starting with the XM1014, it is the most expensive shotgun in the game. However if you are playing close range this gun can help mow down enemies efficiently as you can just hold down the mouse buttons and consistently fire pellets at enemies dealing massive damage. The P90, is the dream gun for the people who wish to ignore CS:GO’s movement mechanics and go spraying while running, as it has good shooting accuracy while moving. The Negev is way cheaper than the M249 and can be used to spam smokes, hold angles, and be a good gun to use on eco rounds.
These weapons are easily overshadowed by the Galil AR, FAMAS, MP5-SD and MP7, as they are balanced way better and can be used efficiently. The first two weapons can even be used after eco rounds without buying a M4/AK.
The SSG-08 can actually be a very good weapon if used right, since you need to headshot as a sniper and it’s quite a hard task. It is the worst weapon to have if you have multiple enemies closing in on you. Lastly, the CZ75 Auto is a tough gun to use with very weird recoil, random shot accuracy, but with close range it can help you manage eco rounds without being at a complete loss of firepower.
This is the worst weapon tier list for CS:GO. These are based on our recommendations, so you may feel that you might play good with a certain weapon on this tier list. We hope this guide helped you in understanding the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive weapons better.
