Remember Counter-Strike 1.6, Condition Zero, and Source? Those were the good days, right? Despite the difference in graphics between these old timers and the CS:GO of today, they still have a player base after 18 to 20 years of their release. Well, Valve may be planning to bring those days back to us. Recently, a few leaks have surfaced on the web that hint toward the Source 2 port for CS:GO being not far off.
Here is everything we know about the new Source 2 leaks for CS:GO
The leaks began when a Twitterati and famous CS:GO leaker ‘Aquarius’ uncovered that Valve, using a Source 2 engine, had been trying out the fan’s most loved bomb-defusal map ‘Cobblestone.’
Previously this year, we have witnessed more leaks that confirm that Valve had been trying to port some of the CS:GO maps to the Source 2 engine for some time.
Overpass, Inferno, Italy, Lake, Shoots, and Shortdust are the maps that have already been reworked on the Source 2 engine.
‘Gabe Follower’ proceeded to provide us with the next major leak, which guaranteed that a supposed Source 2 port of CS:GO was being tried by the devs on the public App ID 730 rather than the standard private App ID 710.
With the testing of Source 2 starting on the public CSGO App ID, it’s inevitable before Valve adds the Source 2 renditions of the maps mentioned earlier to the game. This means that we are much closer to the release date of the Source 2 engine upgrade.
Lastly, data miners found even more information concerning the CSGO Source 2 upgrade with the release of the Dota 2 Battle Pass on the 1st of September, 2022. The Dota 2 update included lines of code that indicated a speculated Source 2 update.
