You can receive buffs/debuffs from Talismans, weapons, armor, Great Runes, and items. You can also get them if you consume items or are hit with any status effect. The symbol behind the buffs/debuffs can indicate if it is temporary or permanent. If the buff has a square background it is permanent, whereas diamond backgrounds are temporary.
To remove a permanent buff, you will have to look at what item on your character is supplying it, then remove the item to stop the buff. Buffs and debuffs can also be stacked up, and you can check how many you got under your HUD. If you have debuff that isn’t going away, you will have to use the appropriate remedy to fix it. Like when accepting Fia’s hug, you will notice a red block with a square background and an arrow that points down, meaning it is reducing your health. To mitigate that, you will have to use Baldachin’s Blessing on it, which you will receive from Fia herself.
Below are all the buff/debuff symbols and what it means. The arrow marks that point upon the buff means an increase while an arrow pointing down means a decrease or debuff.
