Your Status Gauge will keep getting filled up if you are constantly attacked, and once full, you will then be inflicted with passive damage from the Status that you have acquired. The same thing when reversed can be inflicted on your enemy instead. Status Effects have a way of draining your health, and the only way to cure yourself is to seek out Sites of Grace and rest there till the Status meter goes down.
Below are all the status effects that are currently in Elden Ring and what they mean.
- Sleep: Causes drowsiness and character becomes unable to respond. Can be inflicted by using weapons or throw-able that are laced with sedatives.
- Hemorrhage: Will inflict large bleeding damage and reduces Health concerning max HP. Any weapon, spells, or skills that can inflict bleeding or any blood-related damage can cause hemorrhage.
- Madness: Affects both HP and FP in the character if struck by madness. Madness can be inflicted with weapons or skills that have that effect.
- Poison: Deals continuous damage. Characters hit with poisoned weapons or throw-able will get this status effect.
- Death: Instant death. Can be gotten from weapons or skills that have this specialty.
- Frostbite: Causes temporary frosting which will render the character unable to move, taking increased external damage. Found in weapons and spells that use Frostbite effects.
- Red Dot: Character takes damage over time and is more potent than the Poison effect. Any weapon, skill, or spell that has the Red Dot effect active can inflict damage.
