Red Thorn Round Shield
Is a pretty standard shield and is the default armament for the Samurai and Champion Classes. You can also buy it from the Nomadic Merchant in Weeping Peninsula. If you prefer parrying over-blocking, then this lightweight shield is for you and needs only 8 Strengths to wield. It can be upgraded and can be infused with Ash of War and Magic.
Buckler
Mostly used for parrying, but can also block if needed. Has the skill Buckler Parry and can be infused with Ash of War and Magic as well as upgraded. Needs 8 Strengths and 13 Dexterity to use, and is the starting armament for the Bandit Class. Can be bought from Gatekeeper Gostoc, the merchant at Stormveil Castle, and from Twin Maiden Husks found at the Roundtable Hold.
Golden Greatshield
A heavyweight shield, if you are looking to block most damage and damage types then the Golden Greatshield does the trick. You will need 34 Strength to use it and can use the skill of another armament at hand since the Golden Greatshield doesn’t have one of its own. It can be infused with Ash of War or Magic. You can acquire it after defeating Gold Dragon Cult Knight.
Inverted Hawk-Heater Shield
Is a perfectly balanced shield and only requires 10 strengths to use, it is great for use both while parrying and blocking. It has the parry skill already on it, but you can use any Ash of Way to mitigate that. You can find it if you head southwest from the Siofra River Bank Site of Grace, towards the hills guarded by enemies. Loot it off the corpse there.
Jellyfish Shield
One of the best and lightest of all the Greatshields in the game, the Jellyfish Shield needs 20 strength and 14 dexterity to use. Its unique skill Contagious Fury costs 9 FP to use and provides a damage buff to around 20% that lasts for a short time. You can find it by heading north from the Site of Grace called the Four Belfries, on a corpse surrounded by Jellyfishes.
