FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment’s upcoming RPG Elden Ring is made in collaboration with the creator of Game of Thrones, George R. R. Martin. It releases on 25th February for the platforms of Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It is a survival game that follows the destruction of the titular Elden Ring which caused the shards, ‘the Great Runes’ to be scattered all over the realm of the Lands Between. The player needs to recover all the Great Runes in order to repair the Elden Ring, and become the Elden Lord. The player will need to kill enemies and learn combat and magic abilities to defeat the game bosses. Skills are important as combat and stealth are important in this game. This guide will take you through the process of how to parry in Elden Ring.
Parry an Enemy in Elden Ring
Parrying is important in combat gameplay as a play can throw off an enemy right when they’re about to attack, and save themselves from taking damage. In addition to this, it staggers the opponent and often leaves them vulnerable to attacks, including critical hits which do more damage.

The important thing about parrying is to get the timing right. The player needs to discover the window of opportunity and parry right when the enemy is about to throw an attack. If the parry is successful, the player can deflect the attack and quickly attack back. However it is worth noting that not every enemy can be staggered, and some will take multiple parries to be staggered.
The character will use their shield to deflect the attack, so smaller shields will have a faster parry window and this makes them easier to use. Some shields may also absorb spell attacks and revert them back to the enemy, giving you an edge over opponents who are skilled in magic.
