Couch Co-Op is one of the main attractions of Diablo series, but during the closed beta of the game, there are overwhelming reports of the Diablo 4 couch co-op not working. The main problem with the game is that the prompt for other two players to join does not work. There are a lot of solutions that players have suggested on Reddit and Blizzard forum to fix the issue and some of them are confirmed to work. Keep reading and we will help you fix the co-op issue with Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 Couch Co-Op Not Working Fix

The main issue with Diablo 4 couch co-op not working is that the second controller never activates, thus, the second player is never able to participate in the game. There are a few workarounds to bypass the issue.

Before you start with any of the solutions, one of the first things you should ensure is that the correct PlayStation accounts are connected to the Battle.Net. Without this, you won’t be able to play co-op.

Complete the Prologue First

Here is one of the issues acknowledged by the devs on Blizzard. They said, “Player 2 may experience issues joining games with a pre-existing hero while playing couch co-op during the Prologue.” So, it’s best that you try to start a couch co-op after completing the prologue of the game. The beta launch consists of the prologue and chapter 1. So, there is still another whole chapter that you can enjoy with friends.

Keep Playing the Game Even If No Detection of Second Controller

This is the most working fix that several users have confirmed on Reddit. The fix requires you to start a game normally and even if you do not get the prompt for the second controller activation, continue playing. Somewhere between 5 – 10 minutes into the game, you should get the pop up and the second controller will be activated.

Create Two Characters

To play co-op, you’ll need to create two characters. If the second player does not yet have a character created, this may be the source of the problem. Ensure that both players have their own characters created before attempting couch co-op.

Press the Options Button on the Second Controlle

Have the second player press the options button on their second controller to initiate couch co-op. This can help trigger the co-op mode and allow both players to join the game.

Connect a Battle.net Account to PlayStation Account

Ensure that your PlayStation account is connected to a respective Battle.net account. This connection is necessary for playing couch co-op. If you haven’t linked your accounts, this could be the reason why co-op isn’t working.

If the above solutions did not work to fix the issue of Diablo 4 co-op not working, you should know that Blizzard has acknowledged the issue when they shared the Tweet yesterday with known issues in the game. So, hopefully, the issue gets resolved before the open beta. Rest assured, it will be fixed in the final launch.
