You can explore the vastness of Tamriel in Oblivion Remaster Remake, but your experience can definitely get more exciting if you have a mount. You’ll require a mount to traverse the massive map of the game and get from one point to another.

Whether it’s the hill of Cyrodiil or the northern border beyond Bruma, this game has simply stepped up, and you can explore the world of Skyrim with enhanced graphics now. The distances that you need to cover in this game are massive, and the pace at which you traverse through the lands can be meticulous. You can speed up your travelling time with the help of a horse, and that too, for free!

Free Horse Mount in Oblivion Remaster Remake

There are a few ways to mount a horse for free in Oblivion Remaster Remake. You can either buy a horse from the stable, which will cost you money, or steal one, which is a risky method, as you may end up with a bounty on your head. However, other than these two methods, you can also obtain a free mount by following the main quest in the game.

Stick to the Main Quest

The main quest in the game, once you leave the sewers beneath the Imperial City, will be to take the Amulet of Kings to Weynon Priory at the northeast of Cyrodiil, on the outskirts of Chorrol. While the game allows you to explore it at your convenience, focusing on the main quest can be helpful for you. Make sure you don’t end up engaging in some other side quest and forget about delivering the Amulet of Kings to brother Jaeuffre.

This is the first part of the game, so stick to the main quest. After you reach Weynon Priory and complete your task of delivering the Amulet to Jeauffre, you’ll get Prior Maborel’s Paint Horse from Jeauffre. It is the slowest mount in the game, but something is better than nothing. This is a great way to save your money on buying horses from stables, which will allow you to save your resources for bigger items such as houses, raw materials for crafting or soul gems for recharging weapons.

Stealing a Horse

It is pretty simple to steal a horse, as you just need to get on top of it and ride away. However, what makes stealing a horse difficult is the fact that you have to be extremely stealthy about the entire ordeal. Hop on the horse without anyone noticing you, including other horses. Once you’ve boarded the horse, it’ll appear as your active mount. Some horses in Oblivion Remaster Remake will often return to their initial position if you leave them for a prolonged amount of time. However, make sure you’re sneaky while stealing a horse and that way, you can have a free mount.

How to Get the Unicorn Mount

You can acquire the Unicorn early in the game, but what makes it challenging is the fact that it will literally attack anything that moves. This means you’ve to be very sneaky and careful while approaching it, or it’ll start attacking you as well.

This mount is great to have if you can maintain a good relationship with it. The stats on this mount are crazy, as it can reflect 20% of damage, and is 100% resistant to standard weapons, poison, and paralysis. This mount is located in the Harcane Grove, and three Minotaurs are protecting it. You can either defeat these creatures or mount the horse sneakily to make it your active horse.
