Atlus’ Persona 3 Portable (P3P) is a role-playing game for the Nintendo Switch in which the player controls a high school student attending Gekkoukan High School on Tatsumi Port Island.
The genre classic of RPGs is to give instructions to your party members. It’s a mainstay of most RPG games, in fact, since Persona 3 had ‘Tactics,’ the technique that allowed you to instruct your teammates rather than to direct them directly. As a result of Persona 3 Portable, you can now give direct commands to all of your party members. Let’s see in this guide how to do this.

How to Control Party Members Directly in Persona 3 Portable?
You can easily control your party members in Persona 3 Portable when battling, and you can switch between full control and automatic AI. Here are all the Tactics Options for Each Character:
- Act Freely – Each teammate is responsible for making their own decisions.
- Full Assault – A teammate’s focus will be on attacking.
- Conserve SP – A teammate will avoid using SP in his or her actions.
- Heal/Support – The teammate focuses on healing.
- Direct Commands – The teammate will obey your direct orders.
- Run Away – The teammate will escape the battle.
It is possible to adjust this for each character separately. Simply select the Tactics option when it is time for the protagonist to fight in Tartarus. You can then select Direct Commands to gain total control over your friends throughout their turns, or you can give them instructions, such as preserving SP or focusing on healing and support.
You can switch between them at any time, but the Tactics menu is only accessible when it is the protagonist’s turn. Adding new members to your party will initially put them in AI-controlled mode. Each character joining your team will need to have this changed manually.
