Version 3.0 Sumeru is dropping in exactly a week and players are worried that their characters might not be strong enough for the new region considering how high the difficulty in Inazuma was when it first dropped. Ascending and leveling up your characters to 90 is not usually worth the resources considering how little your stats increase. In this article, we’re going to discuss the possible benefits of leveling up your characters to 90 and if it’s actually worth it.
Level 90 Characters in Genshin Impact
Most players will level 90 their main-DPS and main team units first. But players who know better than to waste their resources know that leveling up your DPS units to 90 isn’t all that worth it as you don’t get much of a DPS increase. The characters who benefit most from Level 90 are support units.
While characters don’t get that much of a Base ATK increase from Lv 80 to Lv 90, they do get a considerable increase in their other stats like HP, Elemental Mastery, and DEF. Characters who scale off of max HP or DEF will benefit from the level up to 90. It isn’t a game-changing increase in their viability but it’s still a considerable increase for alternative scaling characters.
Considering Sumeru will introduce the Dendro element and all leaks point to it being dependent on Elemental Mastery for damage and reactions, chances are leveling up your EM-scaling or buffing characters like Sucrose, Kazuha, C6 Diona, and so on to Lv 90 might actually be useful. Even newer characters like Kuki Shinobu and Yae Miko who have a small role of EM in their kits will perhaps benefit from being leveled up to 90.
Is it Worth the Resources?
In one word- No. Spending millions of Mora and materials for leveling up characters to 90 just before the introduction of a new region is not worth it. We’ll be getting new characters from the region of Sumeru, not to mention our first Dendro characters which all of us want to experience. Spending all your resources on older characters just for some buffs in reactions is never worth it when you can instead spend them on your new Dendro units and try out the element for yourself.
At this point, all players should be saving up on their Hero’s Wit and Mora to prepare for Dendro characters from Sumeru. Go farm those Ley Lines and squeeze all your resin so that you can be best prepared for Sumeru and won’t have to get stuck grinding for resources when your friends are exploring the new region.
