To start the process, you will need to first connect your PC to your Steam Deck and enable Desktop Mode on your device.
- Go to Konsole App and set a password
- Now on your PC go to Firefox and download the game client application from their official website
- Go to Steam App in your Steam Deck on Desktop Mode and go to Library. Search for Proton and install Proton 5.13-6.
- Browse and add the game client installation file under non-steam game. Right-click on the non-steam game and go to properties > compatibility > click on Force Use of Specific Steam Play Tool > select Proton 5.13-6.
- Click Play and wait for the installer to launch. Use your file path to install games and uncheck the box for Start games automatically. Click Finish
- Go back to the Konsole App and search for the game client path. You can use the following file destination as an example to input your game client (Used for GOG Galaxy): sudo find / -name GalaxyClient.exe
- Enter the password and copy the client path
- Now go to the game client in non-steam games and under Target paste the client path. Do the same under Start In but remove the .exe file name, for example, remove \GalaxyClient.exe
- Click play, and after the launch window loads, you can start downloading your games.
This is the quickest way to download and play any game from any client, but not all of them will be compatible with the Steam Deck. It would be best if you can try to use a third-party game manager like Lutris or download the game’s original client that is supported for the Steam Deck.
