Steam Deck has been plagued with the same issues that were apparent in the joysticks of Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. In this guide, we will see what can be done to remedy the stick drift, or joystick drift in Steam Deck.
How to Fix Steam Deck Stick Drift
Players have started to report how there would be a slight delay in the stop motion while handling the analog stick of the Steam Deck. This would prove problematic while playing high-precision games where you need to stop at an exact spot. Here we will see what caused the stick drift, dead zone, or joystick drift to happen and what can be done to stop it in Steam Deck.
The problem seemed to arise on the right analog stick of the Steam Deck, whereupon letting go of the joystick, the character on screen would continue to move for a bit. This issue is reminiscent of the problem Nintendo Joy-Con has when its joystick started wearing out.
Since the issue on the Steam Deck was so widespread, it was deduced that it was not a calibration issue, but rather a bug the Steam Deck was facing. Luckily a patch update was rolled out as soon as word about the glitch got out.
To fix the stick drift, head into your Steam Deck settings, and under System find Firmware Update. Download any latest patch update available, and after that test it out. There haven’t been any more reports about the stick drift on the Steam Deck after this.
