While trying you launch the game, you will get an Access Violation along with the error code, but why does this keep happening? This happens when there are missing files or the program is attempting to access data from a location that it is not assigned to, which could be caused by faulty RAM, corrupt drivers, registry issues, and an array of other problems. There are a few ways to fix it, but it is only temporary.
Check your RAM
If the PC RAM does not meet the requirement to run Genshin Impact, you will have to get it replaced or swapped out to another slot. Check if your RAM is in working condition by running a memory diagnostic test. You can check the spec to run the game online.
Fix User32.dll file
A corrupted User32.dll file may cause problems, and you can rectify this by doing a Windows update. To fix User32.dll file, go to Start > Run > type in wupdmgr in the Run Box > Hit Enter. This will run a Windows Update.
Use a System File Checker
System File Checker can find all the corrupted files from your system. To use it, type in Command Prompt in the Windows Search Box, right-click on it, and select Run as Admin. Copy and paste the following command in the command prompt: sfc /scannow. It will now begin the scan and replace, and it will be done in a few minutes. Restart your PC and launch Genshin Impact to check the issue.
Uninstall Discord/ Razer Synapse
If you have Discord and Razer Synapse installed on your PC, then try to uninstall them, as sometimes these applications might hamper certain files. Some players have reported that even updating Razer Synapse or installing the applications in the same file directory as Genshin Impact seems to fix the issue.
Fix Registry
Fixing your corrupt registry files can help with the issue, but you should keep a backup of your registry files first before attempting this fix, as this can cause problems if something goes wrong while modifying system files. Once you have your backup and if something goes wrong, you can safely revert to the previous files. To fix registry files:
- Open Run command and type in regedit. Hit Enter
- Go to the directory: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AppInit_Dlls
- Find LoadAppInit DLLs, change the value to 0
- Click OK and restart the system.
Update Drivers
If your device drivers haven’t been updated for a while, it can cause issues like the Access Violation in Genshin Impact. To check if your drivers are up to date, go to Windows Search Bar and type in Device Manager. Click on it and scroll down the list till you find Disk Drives. Double click on it and find the drive where Genshin Impact is installed, then right-click on the drive and choose Update Driver. Tick the option for Search Automatically so it can check for an updated driver on its own.
If there is no update to be found, you can visit your driver’s manufacturing website and get the software from there, then come back to Device Manager and manually find and input the update in the Update Driver box.
Uninstall and Reinstall the game
Use this as a last resort when nothing else works. You will have to do a clean uninstall of Genshin Impact so that no traces of the corrupted file remains. Reinstall it and launch the game to see if it fixes the issue.
If all else fails, you will have to contact Genshin Impact’s support team and raise a ticket for them to fix the issue.
