The painting puzzles are similar to scavenging hunts, where you will have to figure out the painting’s origin and head there. You can easily solve the puzzle by looking at the painting’s description and then at your map. The earliest painting you will come across will be in East Limgrave, inside the Artist’s Shack. Once you can figure out the location of what was painted, head over there and look around. The answer lies in not what the painting depicts, but where it was originally painted from. Once you locate the point of interest, head over there to talk to the NPCs to get your reward.
You can find various paintings along your journey in Elden Ring. If you explore most of the buildings during the main story quests, you will come across a couple of them.
