Pokemon Go is an AR mobile game that is part of the Pokemon franchise, and is a collaboration between Niantic, Nintendo, and The Pokemon Company. As this game uses the real-life GPS locations of the players to locate, capture, train, and battle the virtual Pokemon, there’s no doubt that there are going to be some hiccups along the way.
How to Fix Pokemon Go Incense Not Working Bug in 2022
One particularly pesky bug that has been irking players of late is the Incense bug, where it just doesn’t seem to work. Incense is an item in the game which helps you to get rare spawns, and is one of the most popular items as it gets you more Pokemon in the wild. Thus it is very frustrating when it doesn’t work properly due to a bug.

If you’ve tried to catch Pokemon during Special Events, you will know that you can find the rare Pokemon only when Incense is active, so it is essential to complete these events. Incense is normally obtained by completing tasks or leveling up. You can also purchase them from shops, including the limited-edition Orange Incense.
The devs made some changes to the way Incense works in March 2022, so make sure to be aware of the way it currently works. The duration of Incense was previously only one hour, but now it lasts for 90 minutes. While the duration has been boosted, the spawn time of the Pokemon has been nerfed from one every 90 seconds to one every five minutes, if the player is stationary.
Thus, you can get fewer Pokemon for every Incense with the new update if you’re a stationary player. If you are walking around to look for Pokemon, this does not affect you as Pokemons will spawn as usual. These changes have rendered Incense practically useless.
However, if you’re still having problems with your Incense that doesn’t cover this update, we have some solutions for you.
Change Time Settings on your Device
This issue might be due to the fact that the game has been updated but your phone isn’t calibrated to the same update due to a time difference. Check out how to ensure your phone is on Automatic Time.
For iPhone
- Open Date and Time in General Settings.
- Look for the option Set Automatically and ensure that it is marked green.
For Android
