The latest in farming simulation games is Coral Island, and it has been compared to another popular sim called Stardew Valley. While the mechanics are the same, the methods to achieve them are different. On Coral Island, there are plenty of new activities like farming, underwater diving, and meeting the townsfolk to learn more about the land. One of the activities you can partake in is bug catching, but for that, you need to get a hold of a bug net first. In this guide, we will see how to get the bug net and catch bugs in Coral Island.
How to Get the Bug Net and Catch Bugs in Coral Island
There are plenty of activities you can do around the island, and one of them is catching bugs. Here we will see how to catch bugs using the bug net in Coral Island.
While completing quests you can unlock various equipment to help you around the island. One of the quests you can unlock is the Visit the Beach Shack quest. You can get this quest very early in the game, on Spring Day 3, and upon accepting it you will meet up with two Coral Island residents, Elanor and Sunny. Head up to the beach shack to talk to them and receive the bug net. You can now run off to catch these colorful critters roaming the island.
Catching bugs is not an easy feat, as they can get easily spooked and run away if they sense you approaching. They also stay in less populated areas of the island, such as near caverns and the isolated areas of the beach. During the day they are hard to spot, but as the night starts approaching, you can find them close to the roads and the townhouses after all the residents have gone home.
To catch a bug, equip the bug net and hold down the left mouse button. Now you can start inching closer to the bug. An exclamation mark will appear on the bug when you approach it, showing that it is alert, but you can keep going if you are creeping toward it slowly. The critter will only run away when two exclamation marks appear, so as long as there is only one exclamation mark, you are safe. Keep holding down the left mouse button and move forward till the bug is highlighted in green or blue. Release the button to let go of the bug net and capture the bug. Catching bugs will take up some stamina, so you should carry some food before you go out to catch them.
Now that you got your bug, there are two things you can do with it. You can donate the bug to the local museum and build up your bug collection, or sell it. If you are just starting in the game, it is best to complete your bug collection and donate new bugs to the museum, but as you advance further into the game and have all the bugs you need, you can sell them for coins.
