As you explore your surroundings, you will come across a lot of creatures ranging from turtles, rabbits and squirrels. You will be able to feed them all in some way or another, but you need to have the food that they like. If you want to feed a squirrel, make sure you have one of these food items:
- Peanut
- Apple
Peanuts and apples are the favorite food of squirrels, and you will be able to get the maximum amount of XP in the game for feeding these to the animals. Even on your first day, you can feed the squirrels by harvesting the apple tree near your house. When you spot a squirrel, walk slowly and press E to interact. You will be able to choose a food item to feed them, and you should pick Apples or Peanuts.
After giving them the food, the squirrel’s happiness will increase in level, and they will scamper about for a bit. They will also randomly drop a reward for you, which you can collect in exchange for the food you have given them.
