The rope sliding movement is unlocked through the rope sliding traversal skill which you can get through a certain hero in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The name of the hero is Juniper, and you will need to unlock them first through Juniper’s Hero quest.
Once you have Juniper, you will be able to easily learn the rope sliding traversal skill. This works similar to the wall climbing traversal skill, which you probably have already unlocked. With the help of these skills, you will be able to find a lot of new places that you can otherwise miss in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
In chapter 4 of the game, you will be able to unlock the rope sliding skill. There are some ziplines found around the place of Aionios which have metal boxes with ropes attached to them. When you get close to the box, you just need to jump up to automatically slide across the rope.
Note that you need to have Juniper in your party to have the rope sliding skill. Through the Natural Selection quest, you will be able to use the skill to travel from one metal box to another.
