The Spiker is a Tier 2 Archæan that appears in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction. They are capable of shooting destructive projectiles that have a breaching ability, tearing through both walls and objects alike. Furthermore, when attacked by a player, they defend themselves by protecting their face with a heavily armored forearm – thus effectively blocking the attack and making it harder for the players to kill them with a ranged headshot.
So how can you take them down?
Kill the Spiker in Rainbow Six Extraction
Defend yourself by staying aware of the fearsome monster, as it can be deadly for you if you run right into one with no warning. Make sure to keep an eye out for the Spiker as they can shoot at you both in the open as well as from behind a wall. Protect yourself by diving for cover. You can do this by crafting a Field Wall in front of you to block their projectiles. The operator Jäger can use his skills to set up his defensive turrets down to help you defeat these bad guys. The turrets can intercept the spikes and block them from coming your way.
While the Spikers can be hit with ranged attacks to take their health down in increments, a more effective method would be to attack them from the back – similar to the ways to attack and defeat the Rooter.
Unlike the Rooter which stays in place after employing their main attack which involves freezing the player, the Spiker can move about while it fires its spikes. The player needs to dodge their way around their missiles and find a way to get behind the Spiker to land a hit with a melee weapon. As the face of the Spiker is under protect, you need to get to their vulnerable spot, which is the back.
The ultimate strategy is to distract the Spiker with other mobs or explosives in order to get to their unprotected back. Alternatively, you can sneak up behind them while invisible. Once you get to their back, all it takes is a couple of hits to decimate them.
