Helldivers 2 launched another update yesterday and the patch notes detailed the fix for several crashes, but the update has created more problems than the fix. There are hundreds of threads on Reddit and Steam Community with users complaining that the game is unplayable after the 1.000.103 update. The game seems to be more unstable with network errors and constant crashes. If you are struggling with the Helldivers 2 Constant Crash After Patch 1.000.103, here are some fixes you can try.
Reinstall the GameGuard
Since the game’s launch, the GameGuard has been a major issue causing all sorts of problems for players. Users who reinstalled the GameGuard after the update reported that their crashes stopped. Here is the right way to reinstall the GameGuard.
- Go to “Steam\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2\tools”
- Double-click on “gguninst.exe” and follow the uninstallation process
- Delete the GameGuard Folder – “\Steam\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2\bin\GameGuard”
- Verify the Integrity of Game Files via Steam
After going through the above process, launch the game and see if the crashes have gone away or reduced.
Don’t Use Arc Thrower
The Arc Thrower is a great weapon that can deal heavy subsequent damage, but the weapon seems to be bugged after the 1.000.103. There are so many reports that this weapon is leading to a crash that we can assume there is a definite problem. Avoid using this weapon if the game is crashing for you. Here are a few reports of the Ark Thrower causing crashing in Helldivers 2 – 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Besides the Ark Thrower, the other weapons that are in question and suspected as a possible cause for freezing and crash are the Blitzer and Tesla Tower. If using any of these weapons leads to crash, don’t use these weapons until there is a new patch.
