Path to the Flaming Peaks initiates the Great Volcano of Tollan questline in the new Genshin Impact 5.5 update. This quest provides you with a platform for your adventures in the enigmatic Ancient Sacred Mountains. This journey will be full of surprises, and you won’t be aware of what awaits you. Since this quest can be a bit challenging, there are certain parts that the entire quest can be divided into and approached easily.

Unlocking this Quest in Genshin Impact
You must unlock the quest prior to diving into this fiery adventure, and although it’s easy, you might miss it if you are not careful enough. In order to unlock Path to the Flaming Peaks, you must first complete the Way into the Mountain quest.
To get that quest, go to the entrance of the Collective of Plenty tribe. There you will find a group of kids with a quest marker floating over their heads. Their names will be denoted by question marks, but don’t get fooled by that. Just walk up to them, and you will trigger The Way into the Mountain. Completing it will automatically trigger Path to the Flaming Peaks.

How to Complete Path to the Flaming Peaks
First Part of the Quest
Once you’ve started The Way into the Mountain quest, you’ll be given two sub-quests to choose from:
- A Brief History of Rocks
- Investigator of Ancient Ruins
You only need to complete one of these to unlock Path to the Flaming Peaks, so feel free to pick whichever one catches your interest; they can both be completed later anyway.
Once you have finished either of the sub-missions, a Spirit Way will become evident coming out of the volcano. The supernatural path will take you straight to the Skyfire Circlet.
Second Part of the Quest
Travel to the Ruins of the Tetenaco, and locate the Spirit Way on the Teleport Waypoint there. When you see it, use your power of transformation to transform into a Koholasaurus saurian, then jump into the Spirit Way in an attempt to teleport to the Volcano of Tollan.
Third Part of the Quest
After completing The Way into the Mountain, the quest Nahuatzin’s Leap will automatically begin. The first objective is to reach the Skyfire Circlet, and you’ll already be at its base thanks to the Spirit Way. Here’s how to reach the top:
- Transform into a Qucusaur: You’ll need their abilities to cross floating islands and climb to the summit.
- Follow the Golden Markers: Your golden friend, these bright pointers. Speak to them to call a vision Qucusaur, which will steer you in the correct direction.
- Glide and collect Phlogiston Dust: You can pick up these airborne dust particles along the way. They keep your powered glide going, so collect as many as you can.
- Use Wind Currents: They help you ascend smoothly up. They collect dust. Use them wherever possible.
Final Part of the Quest
After you’ve climbed to the top, you’ll have to plunge straight into the crater with your Qucusaur form. Entering the crater opens up the Ancient Sacred Mountain map and completes Path to the Flaming Peaks. Side note: This also initiates the next central quest in the series: Chronicler of the Crumbling City, in which the Traveller begins learning the secrets of the lost city of Tollan.
