Genshin Impact’s Version 3.0 is just a week or two away and with the incoming Sumeru region, players are excited for all the new enemies to fight and learn about. Sumeru enemies have not only been leaked but most of them were also recently confirmed by the Sumeru Preview Teaser 3. These enemies have their own unique design and lore too thus giving Sumeru its own unique feel.
In this article, however, we’re only discussing the monster side of things- which means nothing about Eremites. Latest leaks have revealed the descriptions and lore of Sumeru’s monsters and that’s what we will look at today.
All We Know About Sumeru Monsters in Genshin Impact 3.0
Sumeru’s monster mobs are especially interesting because it’s already been confirmed that these monsters will drop unique materials when killed under certain conditions. These could range from specific elements, elemental reactions or even the monster’s own specific form. The combat system is about to get an overhaul due to such enemies and the Dendro element. Below are all the leaked descriptions of Sumerian monsters.
Stretchy Pyro Fungus
This Pyro Fungus has the title of Stretchy attached to it which can only allude to its attack patterns. Their description hints at a non-aggressive monster unless you get too close to it. It has an “explosive” function perhaps just like Pyro Slimes because they too have an explosive attack in their kits.
Stretchy Geo Fungus
As per their description, it seems like the Geo Fungus also bears similarities to the Geo slime. They are expected to have hard outer layers of Geo shielding them and their own general body composition is denser than others of its kind. Will these replace the Slimes in Sumeru?- we’ll find that out when Sumeru finally drops.
Stretchy Anemo Fungus
The Stretchy Anemo Fungus may have a floating ability as we can tell from its description. These will be tricky to deal with but at least they look cute with their umbrella-shaped Anemo cap. They can also “absorb nutrients” which we don’t quite understand but maybe it is one of the abilities of one of its many forms.
Whirling Electro Fungus
The Whirling Electro Fungus is different from the ones that came before as it is not Stretchy. Perhaps it will have a whirling, spinning attack similar to that of the Electro Whopperflowers that we saw in Inazuma. These also seem to have an “umbrella-shaped cap” like that of the Stretchy Anemo Fungus.
Whirling Cryo Fungus
The Whirling Cryo Fungus bears resemblance to the Stretchy Pyro Fungus in the sense that they both have elemental crystals growing on their heads. The description playfully alludes to how these have been tasted but maybe it may actually be so considering how we’ve cooked Slimes before. These creatures look unnatural to Sumeru’s desert and rainforest aesthetic so perhaps we’ll face them much less compared to the other creatures on this list.
Floating Dendro Fungus
The Floating Dendro Fungus may have similar attack patterns to the Floating Hydro Fungus we already have in the depths of the Underground Chasm. Their description also suggests similarities between this monster and the Dendro Specter. Players will have to wait and fight both these creatures when they drop to determine if they are similar in nature.
Winged Dendroshroom
These are elite enemies who will probably be in control of a number of mobs of the Fungi family. Since these are evolved and are confirmed to fly, we may be looking at our next batch of annoying floating enemies with a high hp pool. Depending on how high they fly, we may even need to switch to bow or catalyst characters to effectively land a hit on these.
Winged Cryoshroom
Reading its description, it seems the Winged Cryoshroom will be another difficult enemy to deal with as they will have an AoE Cryo attack which spreads Cryo spores all around and perhaps these spores will also explode upon impact. Their description reminds us of Aloy as an enemy who also spreads cryo bombs in the area much like in the shape of spores and they too explode upon impact.
Grounded Hydroshroom
The Grounded Hydroshroom shares its design with the Winged Shroom family but unlike them, it cannot fly. We’re sure there’s a special reason behind this but according to the description, they make up for this shortcoming by being extremely agile on land. The description also alludes to it being a collection of “countless tiny spores” which means we may be finally getting a miniature version of the Oceanid who can split itself into Hydro creatures to attack us from several sides.
Dendro Specter
We all remember how annoying Specters were before they were nerfed in Version 2.8. Now that Specters will be affected by Anemo’s crowd control abilities and will have comparatively lower amounts of resistance, these are only just mob enemies meant to be cleared easily. Then again we also know Dendro does not react with Anemo so maybe this will require a bit more work.
Electro Regisvine
We’re finally getting the Electro Regisvine after grinding the Cryo and Pyro Regisvines for so long. At the beginning of the game, these used to be decent world bosses until stronger dps units came into existence and we learned about team comps. Today these creatures are just for testing the damage of our new characters and for our one-shot damage showcases. We can only hope the Electro Regisvine remains formidable at least for a week.
Jadeplume Terrorshroom
The second and certainly more hyped boss enemy we’re getting in the next update, the Jadeplume Terrorshroom is an interesting-looking Dendro boss. It reminds us of a certain Harry Potter creature or some Pokemon variants. Its design is clearly inspired by several sources and it looks rather cute despite its angry demeanour. This magical beast also has a pun in its name- “Terrorshroom” not only alludes to its scary and terrifying personality but also its territorial nature.
With fresh Dendro enemies on the way, players will have to rethink their team comps and attack strategies if they want to take on these monsters without a Dendro unit. While we’re sure Electro, Pyro, and Hydro units will be a staple on the team, we still don’t know if shields will be enough to deal with Dendro-based damage. This is certainly an exciting time for all Genshin Impact players.
