Mostly, stuttering and lag can be rectified with the right graphics settings. You can follow the tips below to fix the issue on DMZ mode in Warzone 2.
Underclock Graphics Card
Using the MSI Afterburner can help underclock your GPU and Memory. Setting it to a slightly lower amount than usual can help with the stuttering and lag in DMZ.
Shift to SSD
Most games are not equipped to run on the PC’s HDD, so shifting the root file to an SSD device can help with the issue in Warzone 2.
Change the Launch Option on Steam
You can change the launch option on Steam for Warzone 2. To do this, launch Steam and right-click on MW2/ Warzone 2 in your Library. Select Properties > General > Launch Options. You can change it to -dx11 or -dx12 or any other launcher to see which one works. Simply type it into the launch option and click on OK.
Disable On-Demand Texture Streaming
You can disable the on-demand texture streaming by heading over to Warzone 2’s settings > graphics > display. Find and disable the on-demand texture streaming.
Update Graphics Driver
You can check for any updates that are pending in your Graphics Driver by typing in Device Manager in the Windows search bar and right-clicking on your graphics card. Select the Check for Updates option, then download any updates available. You can do the same for Windows by heading to Settings > Update and Security > Windows Updates. Also, updating the BIOS of your GPU can help greatly
Enable Fullscreen Exclusive
Shifting from Borderless to Fullscreen Exclusive seems to help some players play the game. You can find these settings under your Graphics Driver settings. You can also enable or disable Fullscreen optimization by finding the .exe file of Warzone 2 in your local directory, right-clicking on it, selecting Properties, and hitting the Compatibility tab. You can enable or disable fullscreen optimization here.
Disable Overlays
Disabling overlays for Discord, GeForce Experience, and others seems to help some players overcome lag and stuttering.
Check Graphics Settings on your Graphics Card
Under the Manage 3D Settings of your graphics card settings, you can change certain options to optimize the game. You can set the power management to maximum, and disable DSR factors under the general settings.
Change In-Game settings
Setting most of the in-game graphics and display settings to low or off can help with the lag in Warzone 2’s DMZ mode. You can set the streaming quality to low, reduce texture resolution, and turn off V-Sync.
Reduce Resolution on the Console
You can change the display resolution and set it to low to reduce lag. To do this, head into the Xbox or PS main menu, head over to settings, and select the screen, video, or display settings. You can find these under the General tab if it is not available under the Settings menu. Once here, head into the display settings and change the resolution to something lower.
Disable Accelerated GPU Scheduling
To do this, head into your Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics > > Default Settings > Change default graphics settings > Disable Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling
Reinstall Warzone 2
If none of the above tips work, you can try to uninstall and reinstall Warzone 2 and try playing DMZ again. If the issue is still persistent, then you should contact the customer support team to get the issue sorted out.
