- Verify game files: Launch Steam > Library > Dead By Daylight > Right click and go to Properties > Local Files > Verify Game Files. This should help weed out any broken or missing files in the game.
- Enable / Disable Cloud Synchronization: With Dead By Daylight running in the background, launch the Steam app and go to Library > Dead By Daylight > Properties > Updates > Enable/ Disable Cloud Synchronization. It is best to disable it, for the time being, then click on OK and close the game running in the background. Next, go to the Steam directory in the Windows file explorer and type in Steam\userdata\[USER ID]\381210 in the search bar. Delete all the files in the 381210 folders. Also, find the remotecache and remote folder and delete these folders. Go back to the Cloud Synchronization in Steam and enable it. Run the game to see if the Initialization error is gone.
- Uninstall and Reinstall the game: If the above doesn’t work, you can try to uninstall and reinstall Dead by Daylight again.

- Power Cycle the Console: To power cycle through your Xbox or Playstation, you have to completely shut it down, then once the power light is off, unplug the console from its socket. Wait for a minute or two, then plug it back in.
- Clear Persistent Storage: Xbox players can follow this step to clear persistent storage and make the game work again. Press the Xbox button on your controller, then go to Settings > Devices and Connections > Blu-Ray > Persistent Storage > Clear Persistent Storage. Run the game to see if it works.
- Check Server Status: If the issue is with the client servers, then you can’t log in for some. You should wait and try again later.
