The much-awaited survival RPG Elden Ring has been released with a lot of new mechanisms that players might have questions about. The biggest title of 2022 has its fair share of unique items and capabilities, as players explore more about the game in the realm of the Lands Between. This guide will let you know whether having heavy weight in your inventory affects your movement speed in Elden Ring.
Do Heavy Objects Affect Movement Speed in Elden Ring
Elden Ring boasts of a collection of new weapons and armor, as well as new inventory mechanisms that affect your gameplay. You might have noticed that your weapons have stats that are used to judge how well they’ll perform in combat and one of them is Weight. This is an important thing to note as it answers the question above.

The Weight stat of your gear essentially refers to how heavy it is. If it is light, you can move it easily in combat, allowing quick attacks and chain combinations. It also lets you sprint quickly. However, if the Weight of an object is high, it will weigh you down. Even though a one-handed weapon can deal a lot of damage at once, the time taken for each attack to land is quite high, and this leads to your enemies attacking you in the middle of the animation in order to stop your attack.
As for movement speed, Weight affects it only at a certain threshold. If you reach this limit, you will be Overloaded and you cannot sprint anymore. Your walking speed will be slowed, and you cannot dodge roll either. You can perform a dodge roll only if you have a light inventory, and you will be able to recover from it quickly. Travelling on foot is greatly affected, however, if you’re on horseback, you can travel as usual.
