You will encounter the Elder Rift in the Palace Courtyard north, and you can identify it by inspecting the portal in the center of the area. Interacting with it will open up the Rift’s menu, and here is where you can place Crests into the three lots to modify the Rift settings. There are two types of Crests you can use, Rare Crests and Legendary Crests. The Legendary Crest will offer you far better rewards for completing the Rift as compared to Rare Crests. The rewards will also increase based on the number of Crests used. The Elder Rift can also be played with friends, and they too can add their own Crest into the Rift’s menu, effectively increasing the reward pool.
The Elder Rift is equivalent to end game dungeons in other games, where you will face monsters of varying difficulties till you find the boss. There is a timer while battling the boss, and if you can defeat it before the timer runs out, then you can claim some extra rewards.
