The fifth and final season of Warzone will begin next Wednesday, August 24. Activision announced Season 5 would conclude the first Warzone game, hinting at the upcoming Warzone 2 battle royale that will be launched 19 days after Modern Warfare 2.
After Mercenaries of Fortune, the fifth season will be titled The Last Stand. In a blog post on the official Call of Duty website, Activision described the upcoming season as “Legends never die in The Last Stand.”
The plot of Warzone Season 5 “The Last Stand”
According to Activision, the upcoming season will gather Call of Duty’s worst villains in an “epic finale.” The list includes Raul Menendez from Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Khaled Al-Asad from Modern Warfare (2007), Gabriel T. Rorke from Call of Duty: Ghosts, and He “Seraph” Zhen-Zhen from Black Ops III.
This will be accompanied by tons of free content as Warzone and Vanguard come to an end with new releases later this year.
Players get to decide the fate of Caldera as volcanic activity wreaks havoc on the island. Operators will land on the new volcanic-themed map starting August 24. Thus, gamers will get to experience a new volcanic-themed Gulgag, new skies, and lighting updates in both Caldera and the Rebirth island.
Gamers can either choose to save the island or side with the antagonists and sabotage it.
Hints at Warzone 2 and possible release window
In Call of Duty: Warzone, seasons last for an average duration of 3 months. Thus, a season beginning in August 2022 will likely end in November 2022.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled to launch on October 28. Warzone 2 is expected to follow a couple of weeks later. Last year, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s last season continued for a month after Vanguard launched. Activision might follow a similar trend with this year’s releases.
Thus, the last season of Warzone and Vanguard lines up perfectly with the series’ schedule. It further confirms the expected release dates of the new Warzone game which is expected to introduce a new exposition to the battle royale sensation.
