Bethesda Softworks has been one of the leading video games developers since 1986. Zenimax Media took over the studio in 1999. The publishing house had eight studios under it before it was acquired by Xbox Game Studios in 2021. With a total of 23 development studios, Microsoft has strengthened the Xbox video game library to quite an extent. We already have covered Microsoft’s independent studios. In this article, let us have a look at Bethesda’s current studios, its previous releases and upcoming projects.
1. Alpha Dog Games
Ever since its inception in 2012, Alpha Dog Games has focused on quality mobile games. The Halifax-based studio was acquired by Bethesda in 2019. After the Microsoft-Bethesda deal, the studio is now under Xbox Game Studios. We have no news of any future titles coming from them yet.

2. Arkane Studios
Arkane Studios has come up with high-quality AAA experiences like Dishonored and Prey in the past. Deathloop, their recent launch, was a massive hit too. The Lyon-based studio is currently working on an Xbox exclusive titled Redfall.

3. Bethesda Game Studios
Bethesda Game Studios focuses on high-budget AAA titles like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. The studio was initially set up in 1986. Zenimax bought them out in 1999 and split them into a developing and a publishing firm. Under Microsoft, Bethesda is currently focusing on developing the next The Elder Scrolls title and an exclusive titled Starfield. The latter will be published next year.

4. ID Software
ID Software can be credited for the creation of classic franchises like Doom and Wolfenstein. The studio is responsible for every modern release in the Doom franchise, including the highly-rated title, Doom Eternal. ID Software is now a part of Xbox Game Studios. We do not have any news of upcoming projects from the Dallas and Frankfurt-based studios.

5. MachineGames
MachineGames is the Uppsala-based studio responsible for the modern releases in the Wolfenstein series. After being founded in 2009, the studio was bought by Zenimax in 2010. The studio has come up with five releases in the Wolfenstein series to date. Under Xbox Game Studios, MachineGames is working on an untitled Indiana Jones game.

6. Roundhouse Studios
Roundhouse Studio, originally titled Human Head Studios, was recently founded in 2019 to develop several new IPs for Zenimax. The Madison-based studio is now a part of Xbox Game Studios thanks to the Microsft-Bethesda deal. They are currently working on several unannounced projects that will be revealed once ready.

7. Tango Gameworks
Tango Gameworks, a prominent Japanese horror video game development studio, is responsible for the iconic The Evil Within series. The Tokyo-based studio was acquired by Zenimax shortly after they were founded and is now a part of the Xbox Game Studios family. Recently, they came up with Ghostwire: Tokyo in March 2022.

8. Zenimax Online
Zenimax Online Studios was founded in 2007 with the sole purpose of developing MMORPGs and delivering quality online gaming experiences to players from around the world. The Baltimore-based studio came up with the highly acclaimed title, The Elder Scrolls Online in 2014, and is currently looking after the title. Rumor has it that they are also working on an unannounced MMORPG title.

Bethesda has some notable releases this season and their portfolio looks strong under Microsoft. The company is also being allowed to retain all of its franchises on their initial platforms, which will further boost the developers’ morale. We are excited for Bethesda’s future under Xbox Game Studios.
