You can unlock the replay missions option while you are halfway through Chapter 1. Once you have completed some early game missions, you can reload them by heading into your Garage and selecting Sortie. You can now select the mission you wish to replay from the Sortie menu. Replaying missions can help you better understand the game mechanics, and also find better ways to defeat bosses and enemies. If you have missed any collectibles during your first playthrough, then you can always go back and collect them.
As for earning mission ranks, you need to replay missions a second time to start earning ranks. This also applies for NG+, so after your first playthrough, load back into the mission and try to get a rank. Your rank will depend on various factors, like your skills and efficiency in battle and how quickly you can clear the mission. There are no fixed requirements to meet to earn ranks, so you have to try your best to get a better score.
