Valheim is a great survival game and mostly bug-free, but still there are some bugs and errors that prevail in the game. Some players are reporting being unable to launch the game. And then, there is the Valheim V-Sync Issue. Players are reporting that the game is locked at 30 or below FPS, even when they have not capped it and the system is capable enough to run the game at high frame-rate. The drop in the frame rate seems to escalate when the player has enabled the V-sync. Fortunately, there are fixes you can apply to resolve the issue. Keep scrolling to know more.
Fix Valheim V-Sync and Locked FPS Issues
Whenever there is a FPS problem with a game, stutters follow as the two are linked. Players have also been reporting the game to stutter at bit at certain scenes. As the game is still in Early Access and it’s better than any Early Access games we have played this year, we can cut some slack to the developers, but the issue still needs to be resolved. We are sure the developers would soon release a patch to resolve the issue, but until then, you can fix Valheim V-Sync issue, FPS drop, and stutter with the bellow solutions.
The first fix is to disable the V-Sync as it seems to be problematic with the game currently. In order to perform the fix, launch the game and go to Settings. From there, find the V-Sync Option and Disable it. Now, reboot the game and hopefully the issue would be resolved.
Another way to address the issue is through Vertical Sync settings in the NVidia Control Panel. Here are the steps you can follow.
- Right-click on the desktop and select NVidia Control Panel.
- Expand 3D Settings and click on Manage 3D settings
- Click on Program Settings and select Valheim
- Select Fast option for Vertical Synchronization
- Save the changes.
Restart the game and check if the Valheim V-Sync, FPS drop and stuttering issues are resolved. That’s all we have in this guide. If you have a better solution, let us know in the comments.
no such thing as “fast” options. Vsync options are either “On” or “Off” neither do anything to fix fps…
