Currently, the moveset of Hydreigon and Dragapult is unknown, except for their abilities. Dragapult will have a hidden ability, Cursed Body, that will give it a 30% chance to disable any move that will deal damage to Dragapult. Hydreigon might have Levitate, which will give it immunity against all Ground-type moves.
Dragapult is a Dragon/Ghost-type Pokémon, while Hydreigon is a Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon. Each of them will come in varying Tera Types. Hydreigon will also rely heavily on Special Attacks, while Dragapult will deal with physical attacks. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the best counters for each.
Best Counters for Hydreigon
Tyranitar
Tyranitar’s Screech and Crunch can effectively lower Hydreigon’s defense stat, and its Sand Stream ability can increase its special defense stat. Its Rock/Dark type can easily dispel any Dark/Dragon type move Hydreigon might use. If you make Tyranitar learn Stone Edge, you can use it as a physical attack. As for Tyranitar’s EV spread, you should put equal amounts in HP and Attack, and the rest on Speed.
Koraidon
Like Tyranitar, Koraidon can use Screech to lower Hydreigon’s defense. Its signature fighting-type move, Collision Course, can deal high damage. If you are worried about Koraidon’s HP, you can make it learn Drain Punch to restore HP while in battle. Giving Koraidon the Sword Dance ability can increase its attack stat. For Koraidon’s EV spread, you should again focus more on HP and Attack, and the rest should be put on the defense
Sylveon
Sylveon’s Fake Tears can reduce Hydreigon’s special defense. Because of its Pixilate ability, it can turn normal attacks into Fairy-type moves and even boosts them. This can make Hyper Voice or Metronome super effective. Moonblast will be Sylveon’s main attack move, and you can use Drain Kiss to restore HP, or Misty Terrain to reduce damage from Dragon-type moves,
Best Counters for Dragapult
Azumarill
Azumarill’s Belly Drum and Huge Power will come in handy yet again. Giving Azumarill the Liquidation move can help it reduce Dragapult’s defense stat, and the Play Rough move can lower Dragapult’s attack stat. If Azumarill uses the Helping Hand move, it can boost its ally’s attack stats. Azumarill’s EV spread should focus more on HP and Attack, with the rest being on Defense.
Miraidon
Miraidon is great against Dragapult for its high Special Attack stat. Its Special Sound move can effectively lower the opponent’s Special Defense stat. Miraidon’s signature move, Electro Drift, can deal high damage, and if it is successful, the damage will further increase to 33%. You can use Dragon Pulse to deal with Dragon-type moves, or Parabolic Charge to restore Miraidon’s HP. Last, you can make Miraidon use Power Gem for a Rock-type move, or Taunt for a dark-type move.
Iron Hands
Iron Hands can use its signature ability, Quark Drive, to boost its attack stat, and then use Belly Drum to raise its attack further. Drain Punch can help Iron Hands restore any HP lost. Close Combat can reduce Dragapult’s defense and special defense stats, and Thunder Punch has a chance to paralyze the opponent. As for Iron Hand’s EV Spread, you should put the Attack stat at the highest, at 252, followed by Special Defense at 172. You can split the rest between HP and Defense.
