The Sumeru Promo video was recently released teasing the story of Sumeru and its Dendro Archon Nahida- also known as Kusanali. With Version 3.0 dropping Sumeru and Dendro on the horizon, Genshin Impact has amped up the hype machine with all these Preview Teasers and the recently released Promo video.
The video was done in an anime art style with fluid character and action animations showcasing various Sumeru characters and even our Traveller amidst them. Unlike Inazuma which was embroiled in war and conflict when our Traveller set foot on the land, Sumeru’s story suggests many layers and factions to its multilinear story.
We get to see Al Haitham engaged in conflict with Cyno who’s rumoured to play a similar role to that of Xiao in Liyue. The fight is then interrupted by Dehya of the Eremites. Cyno is called the protector of Sumeru- the same way Xiao protects Liyue. There are even leaks as to how Al Haitham is to the Dendro Archon Nahida what Yae Miko is to Raiden Shogun or what the Adeptus are to Zhongli. He’s said to be a wise, knowledgeable and reliable aid to the Dendro Archon which is hinted to be Nahida.
We also see a glimpse of Tighnari, Collei and Dori. Nilou is also shown off dancing amongst an audience after which the scene shifts to Nahida in the distance. The narrative of the Promo suggests that not everything is what it seems in Sumeru and that Nahida is just ‘the moon while the real sun is long gone’ hinting toward some old theories that she may not be the real Dendro Archon or that the real Dendro Archon has long gone into hiding.
At the end of the video, we also see the burning tree which was also featured at the end of the Fatui’s video honouring the death of La Signora. This confirms the involvement of Dottore in the Sumeru storyline and how Collei will play a major role in it.
Players can look forward to what seems like a layered and more mature storyline in Sumeru. Leaks suggest that the Archon quest in Sumeru will span a total of 3 Updates and will thus continue till Version 3.2. Players won’t be running out of content and story any time soon and it looks like an exciting future ahead.
