Battlefield 2042 is approaching the global launch i.e. for players who ordered the Standard Edition of the game. During the beta, the game had a range of issues from crashing, stuttering, server issues, etc. For players on Xbox Series X, the game was unplayable. But, most of the issues including rubber-banding have been patched in yesterday’s update. In the patch notes, we do not see if the devs have done anything about the text-to-speech narration.
From when we last checked the game has a series issue where the chat is read out by a robotic voice whenever it’s written. It can be irritating and bothersome while playing the game. The game has an in-game option to disable narration but it does not work all the time for all players. But, don’t worry even when the devs have not corrected the bug with menu narration, there is a way to disable it. Here is how to turn off text to speech narration in Battlefield 2042.
Battlefield 2042 – How to Disable or Turn off Text to Speech Narration
To disable or turn off the text-to-speech narration while chatting in Battlefield 2042, the obvious step is to go to Settings > Accessibility > and Turn off Menu Narration. If it works as it should, the in-game chat should not be read out loud.
If the settings option does not work, you will have to locate the game’s settings file and edit the options to disable the speech narration. Here are the steps you can follow.
- Go to Documents\Battlefield 2042\settings
- Use the default Notepad to open PROFSAVE_profile
- Change the value for GstAudio.TTSEnabled 1 to 0
- After changing it should be GstAudio.TTSEnabled 0
- Save the file.
If the above methods did not work, the final option for you is to go to Documents and delete the entire Battlefield 2042 folder. When you reboot the game, you will be prompted to set up the settings again, just like when you first started the game. From the options, choose No for Narration and the chat should not be read out loud.
Any of the three solutions should work to disable the chat text to speech in Battlefield 2042, but there seems to be a bug that prevents any one solution from applying for particular users. Try them all and the issue should be resolved.
Maybe change the title to reflect the article which includes nothing for console players so no one else wastes their time. To have a gaming section but fail to include all platforms is pretty lame. Fuck you guys.
shut the hell up litte bitch boi – its not their fault that your low IQ brain can’t use google.
maybe add ‘console’ to your search.
nobody cares about little bitch bois with their garbage hardware aka consoles.
