A quick way to figure out whether your people are hungry to hover your cursor over the Bowl icon on the screen. You can find the icon at the very top of the screen, right under the Resource Drawer. Clicking on the Bowl will bring up a panel that tells you whether your citizens are hungry or not.
If the status shows that hunger is Absent, then you are not required to do anything extra besides continue doing what you were doing. If you get notified that hunger is Growing instead, then you can resort to the following methods to help reduce hunger
Eradicate Food Scarcity
You need to bring in a food surplus to feed the population and avoid the Hunger Growing status. Food Districts are the way to go when it comes to supplying produce to your people. Find Food producing tiles and place a Food District there to get 50 Food output. Food Districts can also be expanded to provide 60 Food outputs instead. There is an “Emergency Shifts” ability within these Food Districts that you can activate to increase production of food at the cost of losing Trust
Research Ideas to Enhance Food Production
Hothouses, Advanced Hothouses, and Panaceum Factories can be unlocked from Idea Trees. Advanced Hothouses and Hothouses fall under Resources and can be placed inside Food Districts. With these, you can gain “Excessive Fertilization” but come at the cost of Diseases. This can increase yield production of your food. Panaceum Factories, however, fall under Society and are built in Industrial Districts. You need to make progress with Reason for this to happen
Prepare Laws for Food Scarcity
There are some laws you can enable that will target food and food related issues. This can help increase productivity, number of produce, and also prolong the shelf life of these food items. You can check out most of them under Council – Society. The two most popular laws to implement related to food are as follows
- Childhood: Mandatory School
- Food Additives: Chemical or Forged Additives
Increase Production Efficiency
Researching the below ideas or laws can efficiently implement them and increase food yield.

Find Harvesting Spots and Outposts
There are Harvesting Areas located all across the Frostland that will help passively generate food. You can send a team out there to harvest and bring food back to the base. You can increase the yield production by researching Harvester Hangers under Idea Tree: Frostland. Build the respective building within the Logistics District to enable this. Outposts, on the other hand, require rail or Skyway to connect it to the main city and transport food
Work on Population Control
The final and most drastic measure to curb hunger is to send a certain section of society to an established colony. But you still need to keep a tab on the Hunger levels of the new colony while keeping abreast with your main city
