Ever since the game launched and players started playing at full swing, the Adventure Rank (or AR Rank) was capped at 60. Many hardcore players quickly reached AR50 and it wasn’t long until the majority of the players were at AR55 and this was only 5-6 months into the game. Player progression after that almost came to what felt like a halt. Players now progressed at a snail’s pace because the Adventure EXP required to go from AR55 to AR56 was 232,350.
Why AR60 is Difficult and Disappointing in Genshin Impact
To put it into context, to go from AR54 to AR55 took only 36,000 EXP which is only 2400 EXP greater than what it takes from AR53 to AR54. Reaching AR56 from AR55 takes almost 6-7 times the Adventure EXP and it continues onwards till AR60. Clearly, the Genshin devs didn’t want players to max out their AR rank quickly. Many players who kept up their diligent regular gameplay still managed to reach AR60 around the 1-1.5 year mark.
Players expected special rewards waiting for them at AR60 but it was the same meager 150 Primogems (not even one pull), 3 Acquaint Fates, some Mystic Enhancement Ores, Fragile Resin, and some Hero’s Wit. There was nothing special waiting at the end of the road. Many players who were looking forward to reaching AR60 without worries about their World Level increasing were now faced with a more harsh and difficult world with overworld enemies clearly higher-leveled than their own characters.
The option to reduce world levels was a blessing but it isn’t a solution to the fact that there’s no real reason to ascend your characters from AR50 because you get effectively nothing other than stronger enemies and bosses- which only translates to a challenge. This might be desirable for whales but for most casual players and F2P players, AR50 is the rank to reach and stop.
