Warlander is a free-to-play online multiplayer game where players need to attack enemy team castles and defend their own from them. Warlander was released on January 24th on steam and is available on various platforms and can enjoy cross-platform gameplay.
There are 3 classes in Warlander- Mage, Warrior and Cleric. Mages are the most damaged dealer class in the game. So in this guide, you will learn about how to use them effectively and you will know tips and tricks on how to build mages at an early game.
Warlander Mage build, tips and tricks for beginners
The mage class is the most powerful class in the game in terms of damage capabilities. Mages can clear out teams in a single swoop and also stay away because they mostly rely on ranged attacks. Due to the sheer amount of damage, mages can do, their survivability is almost non-existence because they have low HP and defence and won’t survive many attacks from enemies.
There are many attacks to choose from for a mage but these are the best attacks players can choose:
1. Novice Magic Arrow (beginners)
This is one of the early abilities players can get and it is very helpful in providing mages with a close-range attack. Novice Magic Attack basically provides players with a finger arrow they can shoot at a close-range enemy. Many times enemy can sneak into your back line where mages are but this attack will provide a necessary close range in that situation. One of the drawbacks of this attack is that it doesn’t deal good damage to objects like doors or walls.
2. Noice Fireball (beginners)
Another early-game spell that is very good for mages as it deals good damage to objects and buildings. Even tho it’s not a good attack against an enemy player it will certainly help with progressing as players need to remove or destroy any obstacles in their way to the enemy castle.
Note: Noive Magic Arrow and Novice Fireball work really well together as one is weak against objects and the other is weak against enemies.
3. Barrage
Just like the name suggests, it is an attack which will fire a barrage or number of fire arrows at a single target whether an enemy or an object. It is very good against the wooden objects and can help destroy enemy teams’ turrets. Players can activate this ability when they are together with teammates and attack time varies from 0.5 to 2 sec according to the number of teammates near you.
4. Wind Trap
It is a very nice ability to use in a defensive way. Players will place a trap where you press your ability and whenever any enemy walks over it, they will get trapped and blasted away from the wind explosion. It has a 30-second cooldown and can be used 3 times during a battle.
5. Flash Step
Probably one of the most needed abilities for the mage as it helps them escape from the closed-range battle and gives them the necessary time for heals or attack from range.
Some of the other recommended attacks and abilities are Crows, Lighting and Prototype Gyroscope.
Now let’s discuss what is the best build for mages.
- Flash step
- Noice Magic arrow (for early game)
- Barrage or lighting (both are great and can deal a good amount of damage)
These 3 or 4 abilities are very good for beginners as well as for late-game players. Lighting can be very useful when there are multiple enemies and objects near as it will deal a delayed but sure a huge amount of damage to them. Players can also use combos like lighting and flash step to confuse where you went and deal good damage after a few seconds.
As for beginners, try to always keep your distance from the battle and always have one teammate as support nearby because mages are like a glass cannon. If possible try to combine our abilities like using crow and lighting together to CC enemies and deal a good amount of damage.
