SAM sites are very helpful in WARDOGS if there are enemy aircraft that are giving you problems near the battlefield area. SAM sites can be established in rooftop areas to effectively fire upon enemy helicopters and other aircraft from a safe location. It is important to choose an appropriate location and correctly establish the site to maximise its effectiveness. This guide will tell you how to build SAM Sites, where to place them, and how to protect them from enemy players.
How to Build SAM Sites (Best SAM Site Locations)

SAM Sites prove effective for eliminating enemy planes in WARDOGS and are easy to build alone. With proper placement, you will be able to earn some money as well as provide your team with control of the combat zone.
In order to build a SAM Site, you should become a Support Level 7 player. You will need the Large Hammer that becomes available at this level to create a SAM Site. It takes quite some time to achieve Support Level 7, so do not forget to do things to help level up, such as build walls, sandbags and other objects.
You can use the Hot Zone or the War Zone for your support progression. After obtaining the Large Hammer, you should visit the Item Vendor and go to the Building tab. Purchase a sufficient amount of Ammo Supplies and Building Supplies depending on your backpack capacity.
Best Locations to Build SAM Sites
Once you have gathered all your materials, make your way to the Vehicle Vendor and purchase a vehicle. It is advisable to purchase the chopper as it allows for quick access to the Hot Zone. You can fly back to your HQ anytime you need more materials.
Alternatively, you can choose not to purchase the chopper and opt for a regular vehicle, although it will take longer to get to your destination. Take the chopper toward the Hot Zone. Look for the buildings that have rooftop access and are difficult for enemies to reach quickly.
These rooftop sites are perfect for SAM Sites as they provide you with a good overview of the entire area. Though the building will often be found outside the Hot Zone circle, it can be used if it is near the Hot Zone area.
While approaching the building, keep in mind that if the enemy SAM Site targets your chopper, use countermeasures on your chopper through V. You should not start your countermeasures too soon. You should wait until the lock on your chopper completes its process before activating the countermeasures.
Build an FOB Near the SAM Site
Once you arrive at your destination, put your FOB close to the building. With the FOB, you will build buildings within the area. Afterwards, head back to the helicopter and move your Ammo and Building supplies into the FOB. You can begin working on the rooftop.
Before building the SAM Site, unlock the door to the rooftop and place walls around the staircase. This will ensure that no one will be able to access the roof easily. It takes one set of walls to provide enough protection, although you can place another set for added protection. As you cannot access the roof through the stairway, the only means of escape would be via the chopper.
Build the SAM Site
It is time to make your SAM Site now. Make sure you put it in a raised location on the roof. It is even more important that you find it at the front part of the building and not at its rear. This way, your SAM Site will have a much better angle and will be able to reach further into the area, especially to its left side.
The process of making the SAM Site will take some time, so you need to pay attention to this. You should also take care of your chopper since vehicles may despawn if you do not interfere with them for a long period of time. Enter the chopper every two to three minutes, then get out again to keep it from disappearing.
How to Use a SAM Site

Once the SAM site is built, all that is required is the use of the SAM site, which requires you to right-click, aim at the aircraft, and wait until the target locks in place. You will know that the target has locked into place by seeing the indicator change from red to green. Once green, you should click Left Click to fire the SAM site.
Protect Your SAM Site From Snipers
Enemy snipers can make rooftop SAM Sites dangerous, especially if there is a tall tower nearby. You can protect yourself by placing walls between the SAM Site and the tower. These walls block the sniper’s line of sight while still allowing you to operate the SAM Site.
Build a few walls around the position and use them as cover whenever you are using the SAM Site. If you notice that the SAM Site cannot lock onto aircraft from certain directions, adjust its position. Moving it slightly toward the front of the roof can give it a better view and increase the number of aircraft it can target. You can also place a few mortars around the SAM Site for more defensive measures.
