The map in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is vast, and there are many places to explore. An optional location, one of several, becomes accessible after Esquie can swim. While the player travels through the snowy region of The Continent to Monoco’s Station, they can detour into an unfamiliar location: the Stone Quarry.

This chapter introduces Troubadour, a unique Nevron that is different from other Nevrons in the game. Most Nevrons are hostile, but Troubadour is peaceful and asks for the player’s help to spare his family any more tragedy. Accompanying Troubadour on his side quest rewards players with a new Pictos, enriching and making their collection even more beneficial.

How to Find Troubadour in Expedition 33

To reach the Stone Quarry, players must first complete the main story quests in the Forgotten Battlefield. After these are done, the story returns players to their camp for a short while before an overworld path to Monoco’s Station becomes available.

Instead of continuing to Monoco’s Station, head to the northern portal of the Forgotten Battlefield. Turn east from there, and the Stone Quarry entrance will be on the southern rockface. Within the area is quiet enough, with a Rest Point Flag, the Expedition 48 Journal, and Troubadour himself. Talk to Troubadour to initiate the optional side quest and learn more about this mysterious figure.

How to Complete the Quest?

To complete Troubadour’s quest on Expedition 33, one must engage in a rhythm encounter based on observing three increasing steps. The mission is to see through the inappropriate notes (red orbs) but expose yourself to the appropriate ones (green orbs). The task relies on watching: watch the color of the trumpet when playing as Troubadour, it briefly indicates the color of the orb before shooting it.

Quest Breakdown:

  • Stage 1: 4 notes
  • Stage 2: 8 notes
  • Stage 3: 12 notes

Each level is progressively more difficult and longer. If you flunk a level, by dodging a green note or colliding with a red one, you only need to replay the specific level. However, if the player character perishes during the quest, everything is erased, and the trial must be replayed from the beginning.

Once you’ve completed all three phases, speak with Troubadour to be rewarded with the Healing Parry Pictos. This Level 10 Pictos restores 3% of health per successful parry, which can be very handy for sustaining during future battles.

Is Attacking the Troubadour Advisable?

After you have been given your reward, you’re able to speak with Troubadour once more, which will offer a dialogue option to attack. A tiny reward rewards this, though it is strongly advised that you show mercy on Troubadour, and every other questing Nevron, instead for a far superior reward later in the game.

There’s also a reward system of compassion in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. If you complete all Nevron side quests and spare all of them, you’ll gain an exclusive encounter with Blanche, a mysterious Nevron in one of the late-game locations.

How to reach Blanche and claim your reward:

  • Defeating the Paintress, a critical boss.
  • Unlocking the ability of flight traversals for Esquie.
  • Fly to the floating island that lies west of Spring Meadows, the Fountain region is the place to go.
  • Speak with Blanche.

If you have spared all Nevrons that involve side quests, Blanche will give you 100 Colour of Lumina, an uncommon but extremely powerful resource to enhance your ability and advancement.
